Recentely I've prooved the SF 20 flash unit with the Contax socket TLA 100, and it seems to me thet it works! What is strange is that the normal metz contax shoe doesn't work on the Leica system, but not the TLA 100, which works even with the old M6 classic and with the new M6 TTL. Haw can you explein that? Thanks for you attention. Joe

Yes the Contax TLA 100 flash cord works well with the M6TTL and the SF-20.

Joe,

It's only transmitting contacts, who happen to be at the same place on the Contax and Leica accessory shoe.

I have the TLA extension, but I am interested to see that it only communicates via three contacts (including the regular contact), not the four that the flash and the TTL hotshoe has. I assume therefore the other one is not used. Anyone know what it is for?

Jonathan Eastland confirm on page 78 of his book, that the flash contact which is the closest of the front of the camera is not in use presently on the M6TTL (and R8). (page 78) This is also in the instruction book of the Leica SF20 flashgun. Which explain why the Contax's TLA Extension Cord 100 works on the M6TTL without problem, even with only 3 contacts instead of 4 on the M6TTL flash socket.
