THOMSON VCD PLAYER (2.0 version)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A THOMSON VCD PLAYER (2.0 version). I AM ABLE TO PLAY ONLY CERTAIN VCDs. I HAD RECENTLY CONVERTED SOME VHS VIDEO CASSETTES INTO VCDs. THESE VCDs CAN BE PERFECTLY PLAYED IN PANASONIC VCD PLAYER, WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER ETC . BUT IN MY THOMSON VCD PLAYER (2.0 version), THE REPRODUCTION IS NOT OK - THE PICTURE REPRODUCTION IS IN THE FORM OF STILLS WITH LOTS OF CUTTINGS. BUT SOME VCDs CAN BE PLAYED IN THE SAME VCD PLAYER AND THE REPRODUCTION IS OK. HAS THIS GOT SOMETHING TO DO WITH version 2.0? I AM VERY MUCH CONFUSED. I NEED HELP. S.A.NARASIMHAN

Hello All, I am too the victim of this product.I realized that it only recognises the cds,vcds,mp3s created with CD writer speed as 8x only. Also the supply cord of the player if not connected firmly in the socket it gives rear, disk error, no disk message.

THIS IS THE BAKWAAS PRODUCT EVERSEEN !!

Does any one knows main Dealer for this product in india ?

I was in a mood by one thomson vcd player I have seen in the market, but I am in a fix what to do now, should I buy one or not ? diljit singh

-- DILJIT SINGH (chaggar51@hotmail.com), October 07, 2003.

I agree this player (thomson) is world's poorest in terms of price, service, compatibility, look etc. etc. The company should be sued.

Wow!! i thought i was one of the few affected customers. But the number of unsatisfied customers seems to be endless. Well I too face the same problem. Fortunately for me in Chennai there is an authorised service center, but unfortunately the service is as poor as the product. I try to explain my problems, and the so-called thomson service engineers do not seem to understand anything. Moreover there is no follow up on their service. They will say thay will call back the customer in two days after diagnosis or repair, but all these fellows from service centre seem to forget everything. I have to call them agaian and again and find out the status. The other thing is Thomson, inspite of being such a big company, do not have any website, so that we can register our complaints with them. My sincere request to Junta, do not buy Thomson VMP300.

Hey, I heard that there is a s/w company in chennai, planning to give a Thomson VMP 250 player to its employee as an annual gift... Ha..ha... I cannot imagine the plight of the unfortunate employees..

I myself had an experience with the Thomson player, when I got it as a gift. I used it for one month and now its lying in the so-called Thomson Service center in chennai.

Is it worth to choose this product or not? Please give me a final suggestion. If not which is the best product....?

-- shivakumaar (vetsline@yahoo.com), December 22, 2003.

The above message is posted by me. Don't believe these rubbish messages posted by the others. ok. See we can post any kind of Bull waste messages like the above one. So don't believe it. Just go to any VCD player selling shop and enquire about it and if you like u can go for it. So don't decide anything based on these site messages.

Goodness gracious..never knew that there was such an undercurrent behind this product. Now, before getting into allegations and biased opinions, lets get some positive inflow. Guys, check this site out http://www.mouthshut.com/readreview/44839-1.html and in the mean time, if in case there are testimonials against the product, please do pour them in.

I have purchasesd a Thompson VCD-180A VCD Player on 09/12/2003 from a famous dealer "Digital Shoppy" in Hyderabad. I am facing the problem that the VCD Player always says "No Disc". On 09/01/2004 (with in one month) I gave it for serviceing. Till now there is no positive reply from the servicing centre. The serviceing people say that they have to get some part from Chennai and they do not know exactly when they will get this. I am worried whether I have purchased a worst VCD, after waiting for so many years. There is no web site like www.thompson-asia.com/sg which they have printed on the Instruction Manual. I need a reply from the Manufacturers.

-- M.Pardhasarathy (sarathy@lntecc.com), January 13, 2004.

Oh my god, people I also purchased a Thomson 5 in one set, after purchase i can litrally count the number of time that i have used it, in that almost 60 % was failure to play my cd. the only use of the set now is for my kids to play with. I think it is too costly a toy for my kids to play with.

-- Prince Jacob. J (princejaco_b@yahoo.com), February 14, 2004.

'Super worst' just about sums it all for Thomson 5-in-1..I am one of those few lucky folks to have got it for free...imagine the plight of those who pay for it.. In my set the Audio CD plays, but just put the Bass boost on and start increasing the volume...it will start skipping CD portions whenever there is a big sound..And when I took it to Thomson people, they played all their sets and every set had the same problem!!!

Now, their stand is: their engineers(?) at chennai are looking into the problem..How it skipped Quality control is beyond comprehension..

My advise, stay away from all Audio from Thomson...even if it is for free.

The same is the case with my VCD Player Brand - TCL

-- Srinivas Dutt A V S (angaradutt@rediffmail.com), March 01, 2004.

I too have this product and is the worst one I have ever seen. Once I took it to Thomson service centre in Bangalore and nothing changed.

I also tried complaining directly to Thomson over the internet. Finally I got some mail-id of a preson in Chennai. I did not get any replies from that id also.

So, I have given up on this product. As someone has commented above, the Thomson service is also very bad.

Please do not get cheated by your salesperson into buying this product.

I have a new thing to add to this list. I had purchased a Thomson Fusion 29+ color tv in the year 1999 and have been suffering since then. Out of various other problems, the color seems to turn fully green, or blue or red. This has been happening right from the day I purchased the TV and I have paid service charges at least twice a year along with charges for other necessary parts to be able to see the tv properly. But the color seems to give away within 4-6 months. During the last 6 months the service centre has not even been able to rectify the color problem and is making lame excuses for it. Needless to say that the service centres here at Kolkata are the worst of its kind. Also the THOMSON products are a worst lot. I have been thinking of going to the cosumer forum and the papers now. I request you all not to buy any THOMSON product and save yourself from the suffering that I had to endure.

-- Rajib Ray (rajib_ray@hotmail.com), October 25, 2004.

Hi all,

I just saw this thread and realised that I am not the only one suffering from this product. It is the worst product I have ever used.

I tried mailing to Thomson last year but no response.

As someone has already written, their service & service personnel donot understand what you are trying to say also.

Altogether a very bad product.

rgds, Rajesh.
