Hi,

Did anyone know that Nestle just acquired the Purina Company? It's a done deal, I just got an email from Purina which announced the acquisition. Wonder if the feeds will change?

Response to Purina Feeds

Tollhouse Goat Cookies. Nestle announches: Nestle Quick is now OK for rabbits. Hmm, wonder what the logo will look like- five red boxes, four white boxes (the standard purina logo) with a big chocolate chip in the middle? Nestle Crunch (y) Dog Treats cat food with PB chips in it? Tuna and Peanut butter... or better yet: chocolate crab.

As yummy as the Nestle-ized animal feeds sound, I'm guessing that Nestle won't mess with a good thing that is making money.

I think it was Ralston Purina that got bought by nestle. They make Purina Dog Chow, cat chow, meow mix etc..Purina Mills which sells the goat, rabbit, and other livestock feed was sold off by ralston purina several years ago to another company with rights to the checker board logo. So it will be chocolate covered Dog Chow, which my dog would love if dogs could eat chocolate.

Yep! My hubby works for Ralston Purina, which makes pet foods. Purina Mills makes the livestock feeds and is a totally seperate corp which bought the right to use the Purino logo some time ago. Livestock feeds have nothing to do with the buy-out so they should not change. Most of the pet foods will stay the same. Some of the Nestle brands were sold because the merger of the 2 lines would push Nestle into having to much of a share on the Cat food world. I think most of the Purina chows will stay tho due to the name recognition and quality, etc.
