I have an interest in a BLH industrial locomotive I ran across recently in a NC scrapyard. We are in the process of developing a tourist railroad south of Fayetteville, and are seekeing motive power. The locomotive in question supposedly came out of a scrapyard in Georgetown, SC. The builder's plate is BLH c. 1953 with no model or s/n on it. There is, however, a construction number, which is 40570.
The locomotive is diesel/hydraulic and looks to be 25 tons or so.
Is there any help out there on this one?? I would particularly like to find someone who has some mechanical expertise who could tell me what to look for.

Pete,Search the internet for "critters." That is what railfans call these small industrial locos. I thing you'll find a bunch of folks who can help you. Somebody runs a listserv on the topic.
