90 LS Problem

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Pentax 67 SLR : One Thread

I have been getting a strip of unexposed area along the right frame when using the 90 leaf shutter lens. Focal shutter is set to 1/8 sec. and I've even tried shooting with it at 1/2 sec. The lens shutter is hooked to a novatron set-up. I understand the darkened area is being blocked by one of the shutters. The question is, does the lens need repaired and to what extent? The body is the 67II. Yes, I am aware Pentax no longer services this lens. My 165 leaf shutter performs perfectly. Any thoughts are much appreciated!

I don't own the 90 Takumar but it sounds like your leaf shutter is opening before your first curtain has fully opened the gate. This could be why you are getting the strip. There have been a lot of problems with the 90 LS.

Pentax (UK) do still service this lens. I recently got bought a second hand 90 LS, and they serviced it happily. Perhaps you could contact them?
