I would like to know what the Raven represented was it the wife or the Grim Reaper

It was his wife Lorania or something.Anyway it was his olst love and he thinks the bird as his lost love coming back

In Poe's own words the Raven was meant to be an emblem of mournful and neverending remembrance(The Philosophy of Composition) that can be inscrutable, terrifying, dark and never proviiding enough light or Hope to bridge the loss. That essay can be found at www.eapoe.org though it is doubtful if Poe is being entirely truthful about how he wrote the poem.
