Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. Really? Because I haven't bought a thing, dammit. Not one single gift.

Thankfully, both of our families want to do things simple this year, and I don't want anything from my friends or family, since they're all doing things for the wedding (it sounds trite, but it's true). I'm thinking I have to get things bought-en this weekend, though, so I can get everything shipped to where it needs to go. I'm definitely shipping the New Orleans stuff, and I'm going to see my godmother (Anita) this Sunday, so I can give her gift to her then, but I'm debating shipping the gifts to DC, too, so that (a) we won't have to transport them on the plane, and (b) we'll be able to wrap them in advance, since they're not going to let you bring wrapped gifts on the plane, I hear. But I'm guessing that shipping priority mail, like I usually do, I should have the gifts in the mail by the 18th at the latest - that will allow a week's time.

And one day until Master V's birthday!

Yeah, I think you'd want to ship it really, really soooon.

But I haaaaaaaaaaate Christmas shopping. Christmas shopping is why Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I don't mind the giving - I enjoy that part - but I can't stand the shopping.

So do all your shopping online. You can get it done in an hour, even get it wrapped, and sent to each home in time for the big day.

Usually December flies by. Not so this year.

I'm sure there are a lot a lot of people who are really ready for 2001 to be over.

True, but I want to have things for my sisters monogrammed, and I'm sending my parents some good wine to go with a gift certificate to their favorite restaurant (it's a BYO place, with no corking fee - nice), and I'm getting Chris a bottle of good port and one of our Waterford port glasses...

Which reminds me, I need to go to the Swan Coach House gift shop today to get something for my aunt and as a thank-you for Edna - she's hosting a tea on 12/23 so all her friends can meet me.

(Which sounds odd, like I'll sit in the middle of a room and all her friends will inspect me, or something. But I'm all for a tea, you know?)

Oh, and a hostess gift for Melissa (the ASC alum) here at work, as she's hosting the Edison Group holiday party this Saturday. God bless the Swan Coach House gift shop, is what I'm saying.

Oh, you say you want something lovely, and ladylike, and silver? And not crazy expensive? The Swan Coach House is the place, I tell you what.

Well, I'll have to remember that for when I'm in Atlanta.

Master V's birthday is tomorrow? I will observe a moment of silence.

How old will the V be?

-- Anonymous, December 12, 2001

The V will be 28. He's all depressed because he thinks he's old. Hee.

I got him a cabinet for his new amp. Woo! I have not the slightest clue what that means, but Matt tell me that's what he want, so I order it for him.

I'm home now, because Clazy Mad Mad's school called and said she had the fevah. She isn't even acting sick, which makes me think she stuck the thermometer up to a light bulb when the nurse turned her back. I wouldn't put it past the girl. Now she's drinking juice and watching Pippi Longstocking, and I'm making her Christmas cards and doing laundry.

Ah, domesticity.

That sounds like heaven. Can I come ovah?

I am so tired, y'all. Is there any way to wake up without having a diet coke? Because I'm so tired, I'm almost to the drink-a-diet-coke stage of desperation.

-- Anonymous, December 12, 2001

I was so tired I got coffee.

Guess WHAT? I'm getting a new iBook! I'm so happy I could do the hippie shake. Whatever that is.

-- Anonymous, December 12, 2001

The diet coke did me right.

New iBook! Yay!

Okay, I think I have one Christmas gift problem solved. I'm planning a trip to Baton Rouge to meet with some patient groups. I'm going to fly into New Orleans, because it's cheaper, but REALLY, it's because that way, I can bring the gifts right to New Orleans, and not worry about shipping.

Ha! I sneaky girl! I sneaky girl with client who lets me go to Louisiana!

-- Anonymous, December 12, 2001

When are you going to Baton Rouge?

-- Anonymous, December 12, 2001

Monday, probably. I'll probably fly into New Orleans early Monday morning, drive to BR, do my BR meetings in the afternoon, drive to NO, spend the night there and maybe have a meeting in the morning, and fly back to ATL later that morning (or after lunch, whatever).

Sounds good!

Is this day over? Close enough.

Talk to y'all later!
