Motor Drive

I own a motor drive for the R series. It works fine when the camera it is attached to is horizontal. However, when the camera is placed vertically the motor drive ceases to function. Has anyone experienced the same problem and solved it? Thanks.

Allen, mine works fine in either position. I wonder if your batteries could be shifting enough to break contact in the vertical position. I think weak springs could cause this (?). I also have noticed that thee are slight dimensional differences among various brands of AA cells. Maybe a different brand--slightly larger--would solve it filling the space more securely.

Allen, I once had this problem with an old winder for an R-3. I took a foam packing pellet and pinched a small piece off and wedged it between the battery and the battery housing. Test this while the camera is horizontal. If you've done it correctly, you'll have no problem when you turn the camera to a vertical orientation. It simply keeps the batteries from sliding back and forth when the springs get lazy.

Good luck, Lawr
