TOON, TOON, BLACK AND WHITE ARMY!

You're on early Dougal. I'll be back later. Let's hope the webcast holds up this week. I don't want Ipswich to go down, but I hope their recovery starts next week, not this. Someone sent me a video of the Tyne Tees highlights of the Worthington Cup match, and the Ipswich defence looked terrible - I hope they've learnt nothing in the meantime. See you later.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

On board from abroad. Just popping out for a quick cafe con leche in the sun then I'm straight back to the screen to fret for a couple of hours pre kick-off...

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

we'll slaughter them something like 4-0 and come out saying it should have been more. Trust me I'm a catholic..

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Their defence also looked poor against Inter the other night. We should go for their throat from the off, and seek to give 'em a royal stuffing - no fannying about with our usual slow start.

Fancy 0-2 (ie to us!).

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Mackems on TV here tonite, so apologies for my unavalability during wor match!

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

...oh, ok then I'll be here for wor match ;-)

Is it ok if I'd prefer the mackems to draw with Chewsea (= better for the Toon!?)?

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Yesterday's pools panel had us down for an away win. Here's hoping they're right.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Bollox. I think I'm going to go for a short walk on the moors to de- stress me. It's not just today I'm worried about but Wednesday and next Saturday which will be a very difficult fixture.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Evening all from Western Oz. Mackems on the telly in the other room. Could this be the almost perfect weekend or are we to crash like those nice Spurs boys?

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Hi hiro mate, Mackems on here too, "Live from the Stadium of Light Entertainment", I was watching "Animal Planet", much of a muchness.

;7)

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Hiya everyone, might be on here for the game, I'm not sure.

Watching the Sunderland match at the moment, Darren Willams has just made a bloody fantastic last ditch tackle, no wonder the Mackems hate him.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Hi Bud.

Not much of a game at the moment but Chelsea have almost caught them short at the back a few times.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Sunderland will win (unless some of the scathing comments about Chelsea's finest and their appetite for a fight has hit home). I see Leeds are beating Blackburn. I'm slightly surprised at this.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Where's Zenden, BTW? Is he injured?

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Just as I read your post, Dougal, Sunderland come very close to opening the scoring.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

I'm quite enjoying this Sunderland - Chelsea match. Not really great football but entertaining anyway

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Zenden's getting his haid done I think, he has ligament damage to some split ends.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Is RObert in tonight any news??

Sunderland playing as tho Quinn were in the team.

But bags of spirit tho

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

In a way it's quite relaxing to watch games where you have no emotional investment (although I'm normally after one side to lose in PL games so it doesn't happen often).

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Robert starts, Dyer on the bench, Acuna injured and out.

I think it's the same team as against Charlton that starts

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Stanic should be off in that Sunderland match the lucky boy

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

"bags of spirit" eh Derek, methylated per chance?

;7)

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

:)

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Blackburn get a goal now.

2-1 to Leeds

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

As Ciara's not here its your round Bud

Ill have a tsing tao or malt

wotcha gottum????

Prediction Dabiszas to score!!!!

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

"...if Sunderland win today they will go above Manchester United", says the common tator, as if anyone's at all interested in such a statistic ;-(

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Is that a goal for or against Derek?

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

"If you finish above Manchester United then you will win the league."

How many so called experts said that?

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Well.......... Put me money where me mouth is....for us from a Solano corner.

Not sure whether its the first goal mind you

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

My round again Del Boy, once bitten, twice shy mate!

U been in the EEB lately?

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Half time at Benfica's ground's namesake, 0-0

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Im quite impressed with McCann I Must admit looks good on the ball.

Is he normally as good???

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Have we got anything from corners this season?

We must get at least 8 corners a match but they always end up starting off attacks for the other team.

At the start of last season we would get a lot of goals from corners (I think Cordone used to take them all then when he was playing well)

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

"Stadia de Merda" pa?

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Bud yes went twice last week to EEB and the OCH (other users will hate these initials).

OCH bit grotty these days but some talent (Fillopino as opposed to clever young strikers!!)

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Of course

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

I'm getting less and less confident about this game as the Metro blokes get more and more confident.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Hi everyone! Along for the ride and hoping its a good one.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Wees doin the commentary toneet laike???

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Canvey Island's keeper is sent off after 96 minutes!

Northampton can't do anything from the free kick though.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Third round draw for the FA cup soon

Who do we want? Ipswich at home?

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

McCann & Thirlwell outstanding in central m/f for the mackems 1st half. Cr@p game played on an appalling bumpy surface - probably left churned up to suit their flowing game!

Wor team - unchanged for the 5th successive game: KD on 't bench.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

"El estadio de Merda", to be pedantic!

Derek, I'm not suggesting anything but, a Philippino is a male, possibly you meant Filipinas? ;-)

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

"Craig Mellamy up front" says the Metro clown

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Maybe he has grown breasts in the last week :)

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Titus Bramble dropped for the game - he was dreadful against Inter, but I'm pleased they 've left him out - outstanding prospect.
Alun Amstrong partnering Marcus bent up front. Finidi George fit to play.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

My webcast is connected and the seconds are ticking along but there's no sound even with volume turned up to max. Anyone got it working? Or do you know if Ipswich have a commentary?

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Aye Shearer will find it easier without Bramble in the team. He didn't play against us in the cup either and I was happy about that too.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Eriksson and Platt doing the draw for the third round of the FA Cup now.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

We've also kicked off now

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Does Gary Kelly seriously want away, he's (brilliantly) made both of the Leeds goals?!

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Bud

Si or whatever

3rd round draw today is that right???

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

"Clive" Bellamy according to Ipswich announcers... ;-)

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

I got Ipswich webcast working - good commentator - very fair to us. Try http://www.itfc.co.uk/itfc2000/extras/commentary.stm if you can't get Metro either.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Morning all, btw! Trying to juggle my laundry in between webcasts and so I don't have to check on it during our match! No NUFC webcast yet, surprise surprise. :-/

For those looking, Ispwich is on: http://www.itfc.co.uk/itfc2000/extras/commentary.stm

Newcastle will play Palace in the FA cup at home

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Crystal Palace at SJP in the Cup! Whoo hoo!

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Any news on our FAC draw yet? Ipswich commentators have quit talking about it now that Ipswich has been drawn. grr.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Sadly got to go now, I might be back later,

Bye all

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

woohoo!

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Penalty for the Mackems :-(

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Ipswich playing Dagenham & Redbridge or someone else away, Norwich v Chelsea, A Villa v Man U, no sign of us in the FA Cup draw yet

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Mind you, maybe Trevor Francis will bring some of our miserable luck against Brum with him :-(

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Penalty for sunderland

Phillips............ great save

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Saved!!!! :-)

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

I'm back! Ta for Ipswich URL, .cock providing the usual sterling service. Do you think they do it deliberately, for a laugh or something?

Howay lads...

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Finally got commentary, nothing on itfc.

They sound up for it against us. Then again everyone seems that way.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Looks like we are under quite alot of pressure.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Gee, so nice of them to turn it on....15 min into the match!

.cock must be run by Mackems. ;-)

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Looks like a good draw for us in the cup :)

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Munchkin just had a free header from inside the 6yd box saved.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Or even SOLANOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :-)

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Woooo hhhhhaaaaaaaaa!

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

good time to come on.... well done lads... howay all....did anyone get the lineup today?

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Town nearly equalise. Phew!

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Same as last week. And the week before. And the week before. etc. I think the Ipswich announcers said this was the 5th game running with the lineup.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

I like these Ipswich commentators - very colourful

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

I thought you were just taking the mick, ciara. Moooing at the tractor boys

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

LOL! Freudian slip mebbe? ;-)

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

The commentators seem to reflect Town's depression - expecting to get beaten.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Robert - yellow for diving

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Fresian slip perhaps?

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

That's what I Here-ford.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

How do? Just back from my lucky bath.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Exclusive! Non-toon commentator in 'I like Alan Shearer, he's a legend' shocker...

Unbelievable scenes...

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Metro commentators saying Ipswich look to be losing confidence. Howay lads, let's finish this off with another couple of goals! You know it makes sense!

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Dabizas has given the ball away as many times as he has touched it and the commentators are saying how solid he is.

Don't be udderly ridiculous ciara

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Given miracle save. 'Player of the year' according to Ipswich commentators. I do like these guys... :)

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Leeds have won, we'd better make sure of this one!

Come om Toon

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

We should get these commentators to work for us every week. "This guy Shay Given's a great goalkeeper - candidate for player of the season. Sounds like we're getting pressurised.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Lot of Ipswich pressure. Where is our midfield control? Hurry up Ivan?

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

I'm listening to Metro, but after Given's save I was also thinking he's already making a strong case for player of the year.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

WHY are we letting Ipswich back into the game?

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Great about Robert's booking - now he's suspended :( I'd prefer to be 1-0 up than 1-0 down but we seem to look most vulnerable with a narrow lead.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Ciara: old Toon adage - we cannot defend a 1-0 lead (apart from the decades where we were known as a dour outifit who could defend but not score).

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Feels like a goal is coming :(((

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Cmon! Let's make it 2-0 before the half!

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

We aren't too comfy, are we?

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Mackems have drawn with Chewsea, good result for us n'est-ce-pas?

Merci beaucoup M. Philipps!

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Good result, Chelsea and Makems draw 0-0

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Bearing in mind that they have pasted Chelsea the past two seasons.... Thing is, these results only matter if we capitalise by winning but we are looking as shaky as my hands before I take my Prozac.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Hanging on. I am sure Ipswich must be in a false position - they've got to be better than Soton, Derby, and especially Leicester

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Well said the gus, touché

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Well said the gus, touché

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Bud, send me a mail re the wine at home or work. I know a couple of distributors here, both national companies.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

That was Peter Beardsley, wasn't it, on the Ipswich webcast?

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Tell me that was Dabizas's big f*ck-up of the day!

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Softie

What has he done?? Have I missed something???

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Sorry Softie, he's been doing that all game and they are steadily getting worse.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Dreadful backpass nearly let them in.

Since then Shearer nearly scored and Clapham came close for them.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

...interesting junction (*GROAN*)

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

NNNNNNggggggggghhhhhhh.... Come on lads, a 2 goal barrier should be enough. I can just see us throwing this one away if we don't stick another one in.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Bernard on for Robert

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

....and just about creates a chance

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Our centre halves aren't having the times of their lives.

Why was Robert substituted? To save him for Weds?

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Metro said he was having another 'stinker' today. But then they also don't realize that he's carrying an injury, sooo....dunno.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Glass just scored for Watford...well, about ten minutes ago.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

This pressure is a bit too much! Commentators v. complimentary about our defense. That can't last!

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Jesus

Villa just scored dunno who cant make it out

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

I wonder if it would help us if training included one day per week of concentrating solely on Bellamy's finishing? Make him have to dodge all of our players and our keepers in every conceivable situation. And teaching him to shoot somewhere other than down the middle.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Complimentary? Everytime I turn on the radio, it's one cock up after another. Dabs and O'B seem to be having particular mares. Can't Bellamy try to get us out of jail a bit here?

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Bellamy not converting his escapes from the defense. If we are 'playing on the break' why don't we take the chances!!!!!

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Sounds like he's had 2 good runs at goal in the last few minutes, but the ball was nicked off him at the last minute.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Well, I'm still listening to the Ipswich webcast - so perhaps they use their compliments as an excuse for Ipswich!!

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

If Bellamy doesn't start taking his chances, then he risks being a Lua Lua type circus act.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Maybe Ipswich's defending is even worse than ours so making us look good? ;-)

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Merson, Del Boy

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

why do we always play shite against shite teams?????

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Hasn't this Lauren geeza (for the Ar$e) got a surname, or is that his surname?

Sorry to digress!

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

I havn't heard Rob Lee mentioned the whole of this half. Is he still on the field.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Ahh! Finally. Lee places a pass to Bellamy.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Yellow cards coming thick and fast for Ipswich. Hope that's a sign of deperation.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

We scored when I was in the bath. Like they did that last time. If I could get back in I would, but there's no hot water left.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Bud

His surname is Geezer how clever of you.

All is Dyer warming up on the sidelines???

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Do the patriotic thing Shagsy - back into a cold bath!

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Villa 2-0, Steve (Geordie Boy) Stone!

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Grief

Stone has put the Villa 2-0 up after 34 mins

Wot is going on??

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

You know it makes sense, Shags. Do it for the lads. Please!

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

LKD coming on for Nobby.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Dyer on !

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

The moment of truth??

(RE LKD)

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Good grief: that'll teach the Gooners to gloat at Man Utd's misfortunes.

Eek re us.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Ipswich commentators claiming that we have defended very well... ???

Dyer tracked back and tackled within seconds of coming on - more than Nobby or Robert have done for a while...

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Lost count of time how long to go???

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

15 (shopping) days.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Do we have the professionalism to last 3 more minutes?

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

2 minutes stoppage time!!

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

1 minute to go!!

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Robert was limping apparently :(

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Ipswich commentators going mad about the referee not giving an obstruction.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Full time 1-0 to us, PHEW!

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

*whew* 3 points for us, and time to breathe again. :-)

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Whoo Hoo! 3 points. Public hanging of the ref by the home crowd.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Heaven must be smiling on us. Thanks for the company. Bye all!

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Great

3 points away from home weel settle for that dunno about the game but....... lets be honest we are in a better position now thatn we have been at the same time in past 3-4 seasons??

Howay the bonny lads

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

PHEW, thanks folks, I'll take the points (3 more on the road = not too shabby!).

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Could have been MUCH worse. Nice to have an iffy decision go our way for once. We really should be burying teams like Ipswich though.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Great early Sunday morning. Time to scrape of the whiskers off, make wor lass her breakfast, and go sailing I think.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Commentators, (Metro) reckon we deserved it! They were obviously not listening to what they were saying during the match.

Not counting the saves, how many times was Bellamy 1 on 1 and stuffed up? How mant times did Dabizas give them the ball? Even Given tried to hand them one back. How many times did Given save us?

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

ooo! Metro saying we're now 3rd in the table! :-)

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

...then we might (don't tempt it Bud!) stay there for a few days Ciara, the Gooners are 2-0 down at half-time.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Yeah - and could still be after the @rse vs Vilaa game finishes.

Pool top with 32 Leeds 2nd with 28 Us 3rd with 27 and +7 GD @rse 4th with 26 but losing 2-0 to Villa but +13 GD Villa 5th with 24 but winning 2-0 so now with +6 GD

We could do with @rse scoring 1 in the 2nd half

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

What can I say? Chuffed with the three points, Ipswich had a few too many chances for my liking considering their lowly league position, but three points are three points regardless of how you get them

0-0 Sunderland game was a good result too.

Bellamy seemed to miss a lot, although he seemed to play well – if he is running at defenders and making them work then our back 4 can save their energy.

Overall, a result that will do me fine, hopefully Ipswich start winning again as I wouldn't like to see them go down.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Just showed wor goal on the telly like; good skills from Nobby to find Speed, Speed's low cross / return to Nobby (unmarked) for a tap in :-)

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Bu99er. I didn't want @rse to get 1 that quickly :-(

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Nobby is at present worth a lot more to us than Robert.

Mebbies we should rest him (it'll be enforced with his booking - he misses Arsenal away due to today being a Sunday game)

Bernard didn't seem to do much however, so Dyer may be the man to step in there, left wing / creative midfielder who can come inside and run at the defence rather than cross the ball.

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Well Screacher, Ar$enal have got ONE in the 1st. min. of the second half...I suspect there'll be more!

-- Anonymous, December 09, 2001

Just saw our goal on the box and the build up was a peach. Nice movement overhead pass from NObby to SPeed pin point pass and Nobby did the rest. And agree wouldnt like the Tractor Boys to go down they make a refereshing change to the Spivs and Barrer boys etc

Anyhow honour satisfied

Off to me pit good night and god bless all

cu during the week

bie
