Al and Wozza on the Radio

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Shearer was on the Wright and Bright show on Radio 5 yesterday (look, I was stripping wallpaper and wanted some background noise, okay?) and was in fine form. He was enthusing about Bellamy and reckons he's every bit as quick as Owen and possibly more. The three premiership players he tales time out to watch are Scholes, Beckham and Owen - the way he was talking about Scholes you'd have thought he was up to something...

When asked about which NUFC manager was the best he's worked under he wouldn't answer but instead said, "I can tell you who was the worst!"

His favourite England manager was Hoddle because he made him Captain which he still rates as his proudest achievement.

When asked which he would take if he was offered the England and NUFC managerial posts at the same time he said neither, as he is too busy playing but when pressed said that it would be the club job as you can't be an international manager without the experience. (Can I be the first to accuse him of being a Judas and abandoning us for Ingerlund :-))

He was still happy to have been let off from the ridiculous red card and refused to name the Charlton player who told the lad to stay down although his card had been marked and that he reserves his real anger for the linesman and now supports TV evidence during the game. He also said that it was just like his only other red card offence only with more contact...

He said he hasn't lost any pace because he never had any to start with and that Blackburn is the favourite of his old clubs since he won something with them. He has no idea why the Blackburn fans hate him, "after all, I showed them a new goal celebration a couple of years ago because they must have been bored of the old one."

Ridiculous amounts of back-slapping and nonsense from the two spoons in the studio but good fun nontheless. This was however followed from a nightmare slot from "the Toon's Blonde Bomber" (as they introduced him) Warren Barton describing his favoured music:

On the way to the match: Puff Daddy
In the changing room: Rolling Stones
At home: Sade and Al Greene
All time top 3: Elvis, Sinatra and Robert Palmer

No wonder his head was in a mess. All his show-bizz pals seem to be rallying around to get him some publicity now his playing days are apparently behind him. Hopefully he'll replace Andy Townsend on ITV if this keeps up. I see they've taken his utterly pointless live broadcasting van away from him but wtf do they think anyone's interested in his opinion in the first place?

Harrsh on two people Softie, I find Mark Bright as anticulate inteligent glerk who must wonder why Ian Wright gets 10 x as much as him for that show. Thownsend has a silly role in the portakabin but his views are more interesting than the likes of Trvor Brooking's on the other side. I'm starting to thing "the premiership" copmpares favorably to the BBC even if they've gone back to showing Manure every week.

I haven't managed to watch it once since they changed the timing....fucking typical, yes the program was shite but I was really quite happy that i'd get to see the goals before I rushed out to get pissed....now i'm back to the bad old match of the day days when I never see it.....

Mark Bright remains a spoon for me since he condemned our Cup Semi against Spurs as "Boring" on The Big Breakfast despite the fact that by his own admission he was watching Arsenal and Man Utd's goalless draw in the pub and arguing about that with his mates. Let's see: 0-0 vs 2-0....

Andy Townsend has all the charisma of a bag of spuds and mentioning the fact that he's better than Trevor Brooking is akin to damning someone with faint praise.

Puff Daddy...FFS

Sure he didn't call him by his new handle of P Diddy? Like J-Lo? Or Hammer (after renouncing his Jock birthright)?
