You can send your camera where ever you like. However when Leica wanted the UR-Leica restored, they sent it to a shop in England.

Thank you, John. Perhaps 'restored' is different from 'repaired'? I don't know. so, under the British passport, I can send the camera to Germany?

Good wishes,

P.

No, passport warranty has nothing to do with Leica Solms. It is offered and backed by your country's distributor. There is a two year international warranty that is valid in Leica Solms.

Hello, You do not mention the type of repair you require. Is your M6 still under warranty? Is yes then it would be best to send it to Milton Keynes, If not then the choice of repairer is yours. You could also try CRR of Luton,Tel:01582 570395 Website: http://www.angelfire.com/biz/leica/page8.html

Call Peter at CRR. There is none finer, and he is one of the most pleasant humans to deal with.

If I worried about getting "german workmanship" I'd have to dump ALL my Leica equipment - every piece is marked "Made in Canada"! 8^)

As far as I know you can always send stuff to Solms - in fact I believe some of the folks from the Far East HAVE to send it to Germany, per previous posts. The only questions will be time, money, and whether the camera is still under the 'worldwide' warranty as well as the UK warranty.

Beyond that I'll defer to the Europeans' opinions.

Martin Taylor is the English Leica repairer who restored the Ur-Leica. He can do anything, including recoating lenses. I'll post an address when I find it.
