.......on Ch5 tonight, Inter vs Tractors. Continuously says "Hried @rson". Must have been listening to Bazza Davies.

Ipswich started brightly but 1 down and looking fragile. Let's hope their confidence is shattered after the trip to Italy - by halftime hopefully.

Defensively Ipswich were pretty hopeless tonight, and were looking very dispirited at 0-4. However, Alun Armstrong put away a penalty and they came strongly back into it in the last 10 minutes or so.

Hopefully they will be knackered for Sunday, and given their defensive frailty, and an apparent lack of confidence, we should go straight for the throat.

......sorry, I should have said it finished 1-4 (to Inter) on the night: 2-4 on aggregate, ie. Ipswich are oot.

"Normally the Inter manager is accused of signing lots of Argentinians but there seem to be lots of Turks in the side"

If only he had thought to do a bit more research than just looking at this season's form guide he would have discovered Fatih Tarim having come over from Galatassaray and bringing half his players with him before being shown the door.

A very simple team talk for Bob on Sunday methinks: "Get out there and win three points. Ipswich are a pile of sh*te. If you don't bring back the goods I'll smack you all in the mouth".

Hmm. Can't afford to be too relaxed about it. They might crumble, but we need to put them under pressure from the start. If we take it too easy, their confidence will grow as rapidly as it disappeared last night.

1) We stuffed them recently 2) Their PL form is dreadful 3) Nobby giving away a pen is the only reason we lost to them last season in that appalling run we had where everybody was injured

We will therefore lose 3-1. Sadly, since this is the sort of game we need to get points from.

This is a game we are DESPERATE to get points from with the run of games we've got coming up....there should be NO DOUBT about that in any of the players minds, this game is a Cup Final for us....

We lose or draw this and we can seriously write off any hopes of finishing in the top 6....

Hmm, our team and being up for a Cup Final.

See you all for in the InterToto lads and lasses (although we won't get on on fair play this year and Man Utd may have to avail themselves of the fair play league themselves).

I see Marcus Bent is available now and Finidi George is also expected back...I can see it being far tighter at their ground when they are expected to attack and us defend (hohoho)....I'd settle for a scrappy 1-0 win...anything less and I will be seriously disappointed.

I agree, Gav. It's the whole Sunday thing and how sh*te we are capable of being.

-- Anonymous, December 07, 2001

Especially when there's a bit of pressure on for a win....

Plus, the Makems play Chelsea at the SOL on Sunday and they ALWAYS stuff Chelsea so it has the feel of all-round depressing day. Followed by Wednesday...

At least we aren't playing in London...

-- Anonymous, December 07, 2001

Ipswich is only 40 minutes out of London on certain trains, though... ;)

-- Anonymous, December 07, 2001

Inside or outside the M25?

-- Anonymous, December 07, 2001

Outside...but so's Southampton :)

-- Anonymous, December 07, 2001

Dang London suburbs.

-- Anonymous, December 07, 2001

2-1 defeat

I just have a feeling.

Ipswich will see it as a fresh start, they only have the league to concentrate on at the moment so they'll give it their all.

If our big players perform then we should do well, but when has this ever been the case with Newcastle? Unbeaten in three, it means we're due a defeat
