Easy CD Creator 5.0 - where ARE the menus?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hi All, I've got the hang of creating vcd's from mpeg files with Easy..5.0, and as far as I can see I'm creating all the necessary menu pages but the menus do not show up in my (new Panasonic) DVD/VCD player. What am I missing? The thing scoots through the different play sequences I create, just no menus showing up. I'm a bit of a newbie at this, so bear with! thanks, john t.

I think that www.vcdhelp.com has a VCD sample with menus that you can download and burn. I would suggest trying that as the first thing you want to find out is if your DVD player supports menus. If the sample is OK, then I would guess that something is wrong with the way you are creating menus.

Menus (especially still MPEGs itemxxxx.dat in the SEGMENT folder, NOT compliant MPEG tracks) not showing up is a bug that has been with ALL versions of Easy CD since day one. I've had it with versions 3.01abcd, and 4.01 and 4.02, on a multitude of players and different PCs from Win95, 98SE, and 2000. I know this because VideoPack4, WinOnCD3.7 and 3.8, and Nero 5.5.x.x ALWAYS shows menus, still MPEGs and otherwise. If Easy CD 5 still has this bug should we be surprised??

It's not a bug. The default for how long your menu should show is 0. So it will show for the frame length of your menu and then start your first clip. If your using a 1 frame (like a jpg) menu background then your menu will only show for 1/30th of 1 second. Change the wait or loop settings to set how long you want the menu to show before starting the movie.
