28mm voigtländer ultron lenscap and 12mm heliar shade

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

sorry to bring this up again, but i am still looking for a decent lenscap and an affordable way to use a polarizer on my 35 lux. the 28mm voigtländer ultron has a 46mm filter thread, so its cap could fit the lux. can anyone post the inner diameter of the cap or the external diameter of the lens?

the lensshad for the 12mm ultra wide could serve as a cheaper version of the filterview. again i would need the inner diameter.

come on, someone out there must have these lenses!

Cheap filterview:

-buy a E46 to whatever size you care to go to step up ring and cut out slots for viewing.

-use a Heliopan filter which has an index. This makes it easy to match the effects between two filters (one for viewing and one on the lens) or to get the desired degree of polarisation after mounting.

Cheap cap:

-go to your local camera store and try a Minolta one.

Neither the Voigtlander 28 nor the 12mm lens use a screw on shade. Both are a pinch ring and set knob that fit on a section at the end of the lens.

See for pictures of the lenses

The 28mm lens cap slides on the shade and is felt lining - 56mm Inside Diameter. The 46mm filter mounts on the lens and sits inside the lens shade. It must be mounted prior to the shade. The 12mm lens only uses filters via the 77mm adapter and has no threads on the lens. I believe what your suggesting won't work.

The section of the lens that the shade slides on and clamps to has an outside diameter of (approx): 48mm OD on the 28mm lens, and 45mm OD on the 12mm lens. I did get a 46mm Hoya filter out and indeed the shade from the 28mm lens will clamp to the outside of the filter securely. I don't know if the shade is available seperately yet. The filter adapter for the 12mm is $65 US so I imagine it won't be cheap.
