M6 Flash insert

Does anyone know where i can find some sort of plastic insert that would slide into the M6 hot shoe? I would like to protect the area while i,m in very wet and dusty conditions. Thanks for your ideas.

Do not worry about it, moisture and dust will not cause any troubles on the hot shoe or its contacts.

If you are really worried, just tape over it with some 3M tape.

Minox has inserts for its 35mm folding lens cameras, and so does Nikon. Nikon's F65 body comes with a hotshoe insert. Best to check with you local Minox and Nikon dealers.

Here's a place where you can buy a "Canon Plastic Hot-shoe Protector" for $10 (scroll down to the section under "Canon FD accessories": http://www.colescameras.c om/canon.htm. It should fit the hot-shoe of the Leica M6.

The Leica Minilux Zoom is supplied with such an insert. You can probably buy the item as replacement part from Leica. I suppose it will fit the the M6, though I have not tried it on mine.

Nikon's Flash Shoe Cap that comes with the F65 camera body should fit the M6's hot shoe, and you can buy one on-line from B&H here: http://www01.bhphotovideo.com/default.sph/Fram eWork.class? FNC=ProductActivator__Aproductlist_html___207371___NIBS1___USA___CatID =294___SID=EAD222032E0.

Oops, it's out of stock at B&H! Well, at least now you know what to look for.

Porter's Camera sells the hot shoe plastic thinga-ma-jig for like $1.49. I use the Minox ML's or--for that extra flair--a SMENA, red plastic hot shoe mount cover.
