Nikon Coolscan 4000 ED vs Canon Canoscan FS4000

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I am in the market for a film scanner and have been checking out the Nikon Coolscan 4000 ED and Canon Canoscan FS4000 units. I am new to film scanning and don't knowmuch about it and would very much appreciate any advice that anyone may have regarding this. I am looking for maximum sharpness and resolution from my scans to be eventually printed using EPSON 1270 or the like.

I own the Nikon 4000 ED with the Epson 2200 Pro Stylus...this combo beats them all hands down...foret about digital cameras offering for about 2k 6.2 megapixels when you can have the Nikon 4000ED with the Epson 2200 churning out @4000DPI (16x sampling) a 26 megapixel equivalent that is strictly film quality acheived. This is what you want. (Don't for the 13 x 19 inch prints - Epson Photo Professional Glossy paper - A MUST!!) BTW Nikon is faster in speed than that Canon FS4000. Also, Photoshop v7.0 (7.0.1.)is must here..The Nikon Scan software is for the birds...
