Senior moments and medicine

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

In that my mind is often occupied with very important questions like "Why does the speedometer have all those big numbers on it" or "Is my cat getting enough cheese"? I find that I forget to take my medications - Well fear not, that problem just became solved with a clothes pin and a lag screw, the lag screw is installed in a vertical beam next to where my meds are setting, it has an arrow pointing away from the clamping end painted on both sides. When I am at that place I put the arrow up after taking the meds, next morning the arrow is up as am I, time to do it again, after taking the meds I put the arrow in the down position, the up and down equals getting up or laying down. I just added moving the arrow to between counting the pills to be sure I have the right amounts and taking the pills. A memory aid fits in an act better that at the end or beginnings.

Sounds like a frugal answer to a serious problem Mitch. I know some medications need to be taken on a pretty strict schedule to reap their full benefits, so I am glad you found a way to help remember.

Why does the speedometer have all those big numbers on it?!?!?!

It's to make it all the more exciting when it "turns over" and starts again at zeros.;)..When the children are on meds, I have to keep a notebook and actually write down who takes what when; I just can't keep up with it otherwise.

I am refering to the numbers like 50 55 60 65 70 ect.

Speed, not ode and yeah, how come it has 120 on it if I can't use it? (or a 5mph when I don't use it)

I am glad you found a remembering medicine system that works for you. Turning the arrow would just be one more thing for me to forget to do. It has been the hardest thing for me to remember to take high blood pressure pills twice a day. It doesn't take long for my body to remind me that I forgot!

Mary, when you get old enough that question will answer its self.
