EO2 on miniluxgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread |
Alas, my minilux, having produced many pleasing pictures, now says EO2 on its LCD and whirrs and whizzes to no avail. Any clues to what ails it before I take it to the holistic Leica healer?

Your camera's shutter mechanism probably will need to be replaced.Read the following link: http://www.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=003pRD

Sorry, gave you a wrong link.Nevertheless, my minilux had the same error code and eventually got its shutter mechanism replaced at about US$160 !
U may find out more info regarding E02 in the LUG: http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/cgi-bin/htsearch? words=minilux+e02&config=lugpast&method=and&sort=score&matchesperpage= 60&format=short&Submit=Search

Thanks Samuel. Oh dear. You're right. I followed the links and then phoned the Leica dealer here who said, yep, the shutter needs replacing at about $US150. It seems this is a "known issue", AKA design fault, which doesn't say much about electronic longevity. So what should I do with the minilux I wonder? I am glad I have got some good images with it, and also that I have two, much older mechanical Leicas.
