Comment: M-Classics leather straps

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

This isn't a question, but a comment. I'd like to put in a good word for Seth Levine at M-Classics, who makes leather camera straps like the leather Leica straps of old. I still have an old one and Seth's strap is very similar: a simple 1/2 inch strip of good leather with split rings and an an adjustment buckle. For use on older Leica M's, with soft metal strap lugs, Seth includes chrome plated brass split rings. There seems to be a high priority for craftsmanship and attention to detail in his work. Cost of the strap is $23.00. I have two of them. Seth can be reached at pepe3@bellatlantic.net

Do you (or anyone) have experience comparing these straps with the Upstraps? Just curiious because I want to add some new straps.

Thanks,

Seth is a great guy! And along with his excellent straps, he also makes one of the best camera bags around -- the M-Classic.

If you want a leather strap for your camera, this is the one. I have them on all my M's and they are as close to the great leather straps of the late 50's-60's as I have seen. These are not high tech, fancy but utilitiarian work straps.

I tried the web sight but Bell Atlantic wouln't respond. Does anybody have a phone number...and...does he have a printed catalog? The camera bag sounds interesting. I was considering a Billingham Alice (or the current named) but now??????

Thanks,

Todd
