England friendlies

Apparently England are to play Paraguay in a friendly close to the World Cup.

It will be interesting to see if Diego Gavilan firstly makes it into the team and secondly come up against Ashley Cole.

Part of me would want Cole to do well, but a large part of me would want Gavilan to do better - IMHO Cole is nowhere near good enough to deal with anything remotely difficult when it comes to defensive work. Good going forward, no better than Laurent Robert when it comes to defending (alright maybe a SLIGHT exaggeration)

The England friendly against Paraguay is likely to be staged at St James' Park according to the Mail today.

This is a perfect excuse to get Gavilan in the squad and even let Bobby Robson see him play at a higher level. I really believe there is a lot of talent being wasted in the reserves with this lad, still only 21 as well.

He would walk into Sunderland's team right now, McAteer is not a patch on him.
