BTW - just took a call from a mate who was there (poor sod lives in London and only ever sees us play there!) Says we were very profligate, Bellamy particularly and Robert was poor again.

He seemed pretty p*ssed of but he says the mood is pretty good among the supporters. Probably because we didn't lose.

I've noticed at SJP when Bellamy is practicing shots pre-match, he hits the middle of the goal with unerring accuaracy. Rarely hits the corners. I wonder if he genuinely aims for the middle of the goal every time?

This from the BBC site:

It was still very much against the run of play when Speed gave the visitors' the lead, firing past Dean Kiely in the 73rd minute.

That's arrant bollocks, isn't it? Sounds like a Lawro special, or a Guardian report.

Typical! Trust the media not to let the truth get in the way of the story. I will wait to see what other BBSers have to say but it sounded like we had alot of the play and should have won!

I wonder, if the challenge really was innocuous, if NUFC can appeal against Al's sending off. Said on one report it was just a clash of heads but the Charlton player went down with an intention of getting Shearer booked.

To be fair, Lawrenson said that Newcastle deserved to win the game overall, so it's just the BBC site adding to their list of monumental haven't got a cluers.

Just heard Shearer on the radio. Said he'd like the Ref to look at the challenge again. Looks like it's a 3 match ban if it stands. Ugh.

I have watched the incident with the highlights in ESPN Sports. It is definitly not even a booked offence. With Shearer's both arms up to chest the ball, the player behind him was then feel down with a little contact.

If this is a sent off, there should be at least 13 players off in last week's Ars vs Manuare game.

I am confident that Shearer need not to serve for the suspension.

I have just returned from my first dose of xmas shopping. Nice to be able to relive the game through the match thread. I knew from the Radio we had drawn and Shearer had been sent off but it was a pisser to find out how close we were to winning And with 11 men.

Charlton fan on the Radio said although he was at the other end of the ground he said the fans close to the incident were up in arms more than he has ever seen so Shearer was obviously guilty.. wonder if there was any bias in that comment. Said we were really on the back foot and they deserved the goal, is this bias again?. Do we get more than a 5 second slot on itv football spectacular to allow us to make up our own minds?

Another Stupid comment was Shearer has been lucky not to have been sent off more in his career. Accusing him of being dirty but having the protection of being the England Captain. (Comment backed up by Littlejohn) I wouldn't say Shearer is an absolute Angel but that crap about not embarrassing the England Captain pisses me off. As for dirty he has taken an awful lot more abuse than he has given throughout his career. I suppose these are just typical comments on CHELSEA?TOTTENHAM Radio 5 phone in

We should get more than 5 seconds tonight.

There was an advert on ITV about how the title contenders could take advantage of possible slip ups by other teams or something like that.

Anyway, it was basically an ad with Manure, Arsenal, Leeds, Liverpool, Newcastle and TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR in it, showing clips of the players and Robert's free kick.

Bit surprised that ITV even realised that we were in the top half of the league never mind the top 4, but Spurs as title contenders???? What's going on there? Any ideas?

Divine intervention perhaps? Well, it seems that the devil worship isn't paying off for them ;-)
