well looks like Bellamy and Shearer are going to both be out with suspensions so that means we'll be back to Shola and Dyer as our Xmas forwards !!

We did ok with them last year. :-)

Bellamy will only miss one game, but how many for Al? What games will they miss. Someone work it out please?

Bellamy misses one match. Shearer's straight sending off will be either two or three depending on whether it's seen as serious foul play or violent conduct - can't remember which is which! I've just seen an interview with Shearer on Sky. He said that if the ref and linesman look at it again and both say with hands on hearts that he deliberately elbowed Fortune then he'll serve his suspension without a word. The interviewer (Alan McNally I think) said something like "but you didn't"!

They will both miss Blackburn at home and Shearer will also miss Arsenal away and possibly Leeds away.

We should appeal for the ban to be overtunred surely?

Thanks for that info, I think! Maybe they'll win an appeal although it means a spot for Lua Lua and/or Shola. Gives them a chance and it's Bellamy we might miss more and he only misses one game.

BTW how many points did we have this time last year?

-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001

I've just checked up and Hasselbank got 2 matches for a supposed elbow on Keown in that game in September. So whatever hapens, Shearer will not miss the Leeds game.

Well I just heard him on the radio and he was talking about 3 matches.

Well it won't harm the team to mix it up a bit with players out. Shola was canny against Leeds last year after all! Plus CB will only miss one. Gives us a chance to see CB plus one other on striking duty. Interesting!

After 14 games last year we had 20 points and were 8th. We'd played Manure away but no-one else who finished in the top 4.

So pretty much the same really with a tough December coming up. To lose 2 forwards during the busiest month is a bit of a blow though isn't it?
