Must be yee and me Softie?

Was out last night actually - to see Australian guitarist, Tommmy Emmanuel, for the 3rd time. Any guitar freaks out there who haven't seen this blerk should look out for him - he is awesome. He was the warm-up act on the recent Bill Wyman's Rythym Kings tour. What a talent.

Hey if having fun with Ant and Dec is a sin, can I claim I only watch it for Cat ?

do you play clarky?

Sadly not swifty, but I really appreciate geniuses who do - Clapton is one of my favourites.
This Aussie guy plays jazz and bluesy type stuff, but is a fantastic technician - if you like guitar music try to catch him sometime.

I saw Emmanuel on an Australian teen mini-soap thing a few months back one morning. Canny guitarist, he was part of a stroy with some kid who wanted to learn how to play.

Didn't realise he was a real musician :)

I desperately wanted to be a musician when I was younger, lacking talent & rythym I was encouraged by a host of talentless bands masquerading their crapness as punk rock.

Starting with guitar and supported by the "Learn to play guitar" with a picture of Kris Kristofferson on the front I managed a spectacular record of an 8 second chord change. "Amazing Grace" has never lasted so long. With sore fingers & no improvement I moved on to Keyboards; having mastered "Silent Night" I convinced my mother that I was ready to progress from bontempi to synthesizer and she let me loose on her Kays Catalogue account. Reading the desriptive text in the keyboard section I thought they were pushing the monophonic feature as a plus point and besides it looked like one of the collection Dave Greenwood from the Stranglers surrounded himself with and took the plunge, thanks mam. When it came I thought it was a great toy, you could make the sound of a spaceship taking off AND landing but as a musical instrument the monophonic feature meant that chords were out of the question so although "Silent Night" sounded better my Richard Clayderman (sp) aspirations were no further forward. I've since found out that you can send things back to the catalogue, something my mother never did; if clothes didn't fit the intended recipient they were touted around the family until they fit someone luckily my cousins were boys!.

So now I've tried guitar & keyboard but somebody has already covered "Silent Night" so I have to move on TO DRUMS. Excellent, it's not everyday a band splits and drums become available for a bargain price of £80 and I could pay it weekly out of my paper round money, I did morning gate at Reyrolles, Pinks and a huge Sunday round so I could pay him off in about 6 weeks. Trouble was my bedroom was getting cluttered, I have to lose the bed. It's round about this time when I realised the importance for a drummer to have rythym, but what the hell, how many people can say they've had complaints about the noise from three houses away.

Vocals, hah aslong I can shout, even then the rythym thing comes into it, if you watch me at the match I either clap or sing, I cannot sync the two together.

I sold the guitar & synth, stressing the monophonic feature as a big deal, the drums are in my mothers back garden, she got the shed that housed them knocked down a couple of months ago and didn't have the heart to skip them. My kids bang on them when we visit.

That's probably why I cannot bring myself to criticise some of the shite that comes on Top of the Pops.

LoL. Tony you're a star - can I have your autograph? Puts my meagre attempts wel land truly into perspective. I couldn't even hit the bliddy drums ;-)
