All well on the home front

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

Finally everyone is well, except for runny noses which I will take any day over what we have been going through. It is extremely windy in Indy this morning and starting to get very cold. What are you all doing to get ready for winter? I am getting the snow suits ready for the kids, gloves, hats, and lots of prayer. It's going to be a very cold winter.

Glad to hear ya'll are getting better. We've been lucky so far, no major sickness in the family yet this year. And we've had those snowsuits, gloves, hats, boots, etc., out for quite awhile!;) I don't envy you that wind. Nothing like it to make cold oh so much colder.

I was wondering.

I'm glad everyone is feeling better Mindy. Winter will soon be upon us, although it is warmer than usual here in SE Ohio. Most of my winter preparations are well under way. I am mostly looking forward to trying some new recipes and making a few quilts. Also I do income taxes, so I am pretty busy from Mid January to April 15th!

All the animals have nice warm houses and beds. I made sure everyone had hats, scarfs, gloves and good boots and socks.House is caulked and tight(all but the back door which will be by tonight) and everyones cars and trucks are taken care of except......I went to get my gloves last night and found I have none and my car is dead.I guess I need to remember me when I get everyone else ready!!!I never use my car anyway but once a month when we go to town so I am alright until I can find time to put it up in the garage and find out whats wrong with it this time. It snowed all day on Tuesday or Wednesday I can't remember, anyway it has melted and they say to expect temps around mid to upper 50 buy the weekend! What's up with that!?God Bless

If you only use your car once a month and you don't start it very often, you may just a have a dead battery. You should try to charge it or jump it.

Also once it is charged start it for a little while every 4-5 days.

If it isn't holding a charge you may need to clean the clamps that hook to the battery terminals. They get corroded after a while and are easy to clean with a wire brush, or just use a penknife and scrape them clean.

Just a thought!!
