www.vcdhelp.com has a DVD player compatibility list that will tell if your DVD player supports SVCD or not. With regards to DVCD, it depends on what this means. This term is used to describe several different things - 1) VCD format movies burned to 99 minute CD-Rs. Since this is normal VCD format, these should be burned as VCDs with software that supports overburning. Programs such as Nero. Fireburner and cdrdao can do this. 2) VCD format with low bit rates to enable more of the movie to fit on a CD-R. These can burned with programs such as the ones I mentioned before. 3) A new format that supposedly will offer higher quality than SVCD. No one seems to know anything about this format, so there are no software programs that can burn it.

Everything I've read about that says its DVCD has actually been VCD format burned to 99 minute CD-Rs. I hope this helps.

There is an excellent guide to making VCD slide shows at www.labdv.com. Unfortunately, the site is on a free server that gets a lot of traffic. The main page loads quickly, but the other pages load VERY slowly. Go to the main page, then select English as your language, wait a long time (several minutes at least) for the English pages to load and you will see that there is a step by step guide to doing this.
