I am re-reading "Parenting With Love and Logic". Funny thing is I forgot so much about that book so when I started implementing some of its suggestions my Mom was sceptical. I said "You are the one who gave me the book for Christmas in 1993!" She said "Oh! I guess its okay, then!"

I was reading "The Fiery Cross" by Diana Gabaldon. It is the latest book in her "Outlander" series. This week I'm studying for finals, so no reading for pleasure. :(

My grandmother gave me a stack of magazines called "The Good Old Days" lots of stories about years ago that are very interesting.

As an aside, some of you know I operate our local library. We recently received a very generous donation of about 16 boxes of childrens' books. First they brought 10 boxes then they brought 6 more. There are well over 1000 books. The kids were there with me Tuesday digging through them like it was better than Christmas. I have a group of young people who help with decorating and making bulletin boards. They couldn't believe all the nice books!

I am ready the newly revised Miserly Mom book again. Hoping to pull something I missed the first 2 times out and use it. I love christian romance from the old west thou. I don't get to read much during this season.I can't wait until I am done with Christmas and can actually set down and enjoy a good book!I am tring to locate the one Melissa mentioned-"A New Dare to Discipline" from Dr. Dobson. Sounds like I might learn something!

Besides the Bible, I'm reading some 20 year old Organic Gardening and Farming magazines I got off Ebay! The old ones are very good. The new ones are terrible!

Two books at the moment. The complete guide to Self Sufficiency by John Seymour and Daddy Long Legs by Jean Webster. This will be closely followed by Dear Enemy. My next novel will be Pride and Predjudice. I visit all these three every year. I love them.

Best wishes

Alison

Alison,

I just finished reading "Daddy Longlegs" a couple of months ago and really enjoyed it. I don't read fiction too often but am now reading the Vicar of Wakefield by Oliver Goldsmith. My non-fiction reading for now is "A guide To Raising Pigs" by Kelly Klober. For school I am reading through the Little House series with our youngest. We are just about to finish "Little Town on the Prairie" and will then begin "Those Happy Golden Years".

I have so many books going that it's hard to know which one I'm reading at any given moment. But, the one I keep open most these days is the Koran. I'm trying to figure all this out. I tend to research things for myself and then make decisions. Besides that, I have been working on "Yankee Doodle Dead", a mystery by a local writer named Carolyn G. Hart, "The Cup and the Sword" by Alice Tisdale Hobart, and Gandhi's Autobiography. I've finished many but the one that sticks out in my mind as one to recommend is "The Camino" by Shirley MaClaine. It really made me want to do the trek through Spain. And sitting beside my lamp next to the couch are three books I recently bought ... "Germs" by Judit Miller (I just had to see what everyone was screaming about lol), "Vector" by Robin Cook, and "Term Limits" by Vince Flynn. These last two were recommended by my 24 year old daughter, who I seldom see because of college and her job. She's coming for Christmas and I wanted to be able to discuss her interests. I guess I'd better get started on them, huh? lol I love to read, but haven't been able to sit down and finish a complete book without having others going at the same time since college days.
