According to the .cock, there's only been 7 who can match or beat Al's efforts. Wee Hughie is one (143 goals), NL Harris (101) is another, TH McDonald (113), SuperMac (121), Wor Jackie (200!), Bobby Mitchell (113) and finally Len White (153).I ashamedly cannot put first names to Mssrs Harris and McDonald...that's how crap I am...apols

If the 'T.H.McDonald' mentioned played in the 1920s, then his name was Tommy McDonald. Played against Aston Villa in 1924 Cup Final. Two sons Ian & Andy, & daughter Jean took off for Australia (Ian), South Africa (Andy,) and New Zealand (Jean). None of the last three mentioned scored 100 goals.:-) -phoenix

A youth team coach has done it too, in two separate spells though

Neil Harris, iirc... Not the Millwall one though. So, do we reckon Al's going to make it to all time #2?

Are you sure it's not a misprint and it's Rob McDonald? He must have scored at least a hundred.....

Mr McDonald was a 1920s player indeed so must have been Tommy. As for reaching all time 2nd place (200 is well beyond Al now), there's a good chance. If he keeps his average of 18 goals a season for us over 3 years, he'll pip in front of Len White. Perhaps a nice hattrick this weekend will help along the way...oh, forgot...it's in L**don.
