Picture quality for EOS 500N/Rebel G

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

I have recently bought EOS 500n/Rebel G...for the Initial two rolls the results were even not at par with an ordinary point and shoot. But for the next two rolls it has shown preety good results... My question here is how to decide upon the type of film to be used.Initially i used 400 and then i started using 200.and further please suggest me a good lense filter to protect my lense and which doent also affect the results.I bought a lense filter for Singapore $12..and somebody told me that u cannot get a lense filter for so cheap hence it is a bad quality filter. I have at the moment removed it.

for one thing, make sure you are using a canon lens. when you buy a skylight filter make sure that it is a brand name (hoya, B&H, tiffen, etc...). the reason for your poor picture quality is probably camera shake. stick with your 400 speed film until you have a better understanding of shutter speeds. a general rule of thumb is to shoot at or above the speed of the reciprical of the focal length of the lens. for example at 28mm shoot at or higher than 1/30sec. If lens is at 80 shoot at 1/125sec. always round the shutter speed up. good luck!
