For anyone that has taken advantage of the cheap GO flights between Newcastle and Stanstead you might be interested to know what happened to a couple of my mates on Monday morning. They'd been to London for the weekend and were flying back on on the 06:40 flight. I dropped them at the airport at 05:15 and they checked in at 05:30 and were told that boarding was 06:10 (they weren't checking anything into the hold so could check in an hour before the flight). They went for a drink and left plenty of time (they thought) to get through security. They ended up missing the plane as the queues to get through security were huge - waiting time about one and a half hours. The place was in chaos with loads of people missing planes to cities all over Europe. GO denied all responsibility and offered them a place on the 7pm flight for an additional £50. They finally hired a car and drove home. So give yourselves plenty of time and go straight through security.

I when to London on work related stuff the other day on the first class train service (6.30 gannin and 4.00 return). The sevice was smashing, free parking at the Central, free tube travel, really canny 3 course meal on the way back. We arrived on time at KX and at Newcastle.
For this GNER charge £206 - I couldn't believe it two hundred and six English pounds.
