I'm doing a paper on the "Oval Portrait" and I was wondering what other people thought were some themes or good ideas in this story. I've come up with a few, but I wanted to see what others thought as well.

Try comparing "The Oval Portrait" to Nathanial Hawthorne's "The Birthmark." If not, In "the Oval Portrait," as the picture is painted, the woman's soul gets sucked into the painting and is captured.
