Where have all the flowers gone,
long time passing?
Where have all the flowers gone,
long time ago?
Where have all the flowers gone?
Picked by young girls every one.
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the young girls gone,
long time passing?
Where have all the young girls gone,
long time ago?
Where have all the young girls gone?
Married young men every one.
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the young men gone,
long time passing?
Where have all the young men gone,
long time ago?
Where have all the young men gone?
Gone for soldiers every one.
When will they ever learn?

Gone to graveyards every one.

Brought back memories for me, for sure. Life seems to move ahead, but doesn't seem to change much in some ways.

Kingston Trio stuff for me. Seemed a simple lament in the early 60's of a time or conflict that was too far behind us to really worry about. Most people don't worry about wars cause most people don't fight them. Easy to blow it off wondering "when will they ever learn." Gets different when you do it. There are lots of reasons to fight. Philosophy, fear of the implied cowardice that might go with not fighting or the buddy whose ass is as hung out as yours. Any trump lyrics like these. You wanna know what life and freedom are worth go to war. Best teacher out there.

No offense meant Miserable SOB. Just caught a thing w/ me. Thanks actually for letting me remember the child's view I had way back when.

No offense taken, Carlos. The song popped into my head more because of the "war" at Unk's than anything to do with the US soldiers now fighting in Afghanistan. The feuding there seemed so damn futile.
