Quote of The Day

Dog Track Time for Helen Thomas

Q: Does the President feel the United States has the right to bomb or invade any country harboring terrorists? Is he going to invade Spain?
MR. FLEISCHER: Helen, the President, as I mentioned, is focused on phase one --
Q : Eight suspected terrorists --
MR. FLEISCHER: The President is focused on phase one of the war against terrorism. But the President has made it plain to the American people that this a long-term war.
Q: Answer the question. What right do we have to invade any country?
MR. FLEISCHER: I'm not aware that we are invading Spain.

New guys in town

How Much Am I Bid? A story out of Canada warns of a Taliban plot to kidnap journalists. We certainly hope word reaches Geraldo - last seen strolling through a land mine free ruined orchard raging about destroyed trees while his "peers" joined the Marines in the bloody prison standoff. It would take two teenage Taliban in a flat bed truck five seconds to snag him. Anyone ever read "The Ransom of Red Chief"?

Apples & Oranges: E.R. Shipp tries to compare Hillary Clinton and Laura Bush. Yes, they are both women and yes, they both married men who became President. It stops right there. What the country hated about Hillary had nothing to do with her assertiveness. It had to do with her bone deep dishonesty and corrupt agenda. The thread of comments on this piece say it all.

Too Stoned To Know: Invoking the motto on the Clinton family coat-of-arms ("I might have, but I don't recall" ) Hillary's brother Tony Rodham testified in an assault case against the guy who cold conked him while Rodham was canoodling with the guy's girl. Such class. Anyone remember reading that Fat Hughie Rodham ever gave the pardon fee back as Big Sis promised? Oh well, the Clintons are all so....so..nineties. Let's move on.

Cave Busters: USA Today has an - ahem - in-depth piece on the cave problem in Afghanistan and it doesn't sound like fun. We have a solution for that entire piece of real estate. Pave it and go home.

Hey, Saddam, Phase Two Means You: Secretary of State Colin Powell seems to have "hawked" up a tad. Appearing on Larry King Live last night he said the President has sent "a very sober, chilling message" to Saddam Hussein when he said, "He'll find out." It's hard to think of many more ways to let Iraq know what's in store short of an extremely loud boom out by the Baghdad Anthrax Works. Here's the NYTimes report.

On A Serious Note: Now that we know that a superior force of our sons, brothers and fathers are actually on the ground in Kandahar, engaging in a fierce battle to the finish, our thoughts and prayers are with them. If, as the President said, a nation's prayers brought those two young women aid workers out of a Taliban prison and home safely, we've got the power. Say one today.....over and over again. You know it works.

"Is he going to invade Spain?" My God!

And Geraldo raging about destroyed trees. How about raging about destroyed people.

"Anyone ever read "The Ransom of Red Chief"?"

That was my hoped-for scenario for JJ if he had gone over there last month. Geraldo is still good for a few laughs, so I think we might take him back.

Sometimes that source thingie works, sometimes it don't. Now what in the hell is going on with things here? On my screen, I have an abnormally long posting box and tiny print.

-- Anonymous, November 27, 2001

That's cuz yer blind. It's normal width screen, but large print.

yer missing a closed tag at the end of the post. maybe more than one.

I tried adding one, and it changed the answers to look more normal, but someone apparently took it out.

I do like the links, though. Especially since you rarely do any on these posts. ;~)

I deliberately don't do the links, usually, because you lazy sods should go to the site and find the damn things, that's why, so there.
