Must I make my confirmation to be married in the catholic church?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

I was baptized catholic and received my first holy communion, however I've never received confirmation. My fiance' is a confirmed catholic. Do I need to be confirmed in order to marry in the catholic church? Also, does my maid of honor have to be a confirmed catholic as well? Thank you, Priscilla

God isn't concerned about religious peopel. Those who willfully sin, are they who who are bound in sin refusing freedom.Satans last day lie that he doesn't exist, Gods word says that those who reject the truth are held captive under the sway of the devil Ephesians 2:1-2 And you he quickened, who were dead in transpasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobediance. 1. Disobedince is to refuse that Jesus is the Christ, abiding in sin and death for that refusal. 2.The world is evil, for it refuses to acknoledge God ie;movies(Satans temple) books-Harry Potter-magazines, music, religion is the perfect mask for Satan-as many are blinded therby, Catholic teachings aren't based on scripture. A.The pope vicar-means anti- he is a form of the antichist, as he is manuavering all the false religions, wich are in disobediance to Christ, to pray, but not to the true and living God, but to lucifer, this will lead to a false 7 yr peace in Isreal, wich is a deception. The popes are false apostles, wich is why Jesus is still on the cross, wich is why they are concerned about the building and not the heart, Satan doesn't want sinners to be set free, so he he keeps them bound in the name of religion. B. Those who follow this last day one world reliogion shall find themselves receiving of Gods wrath.Revelations 14:9-10-11, read it your soul depends on it. C.Islam isn't a religion of peace, they are taught to hate, more importnatly to reject Jesus Christ as the son of God, Gods word says they who who do are following the spirit of the antichrist.1 John:4:1-3 D. Holloywood is being employed by the world to fight terrosit, Blessed are they who walk not in the counsel of the ungodly(Psalm 1) this will not be blessed by by God, so therefore, it is part of Satns ast day lie. C-2 Thessalonians 2:11-12 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion that they should belive a lie. That they might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteussness.

This is Satans last day lie, if you haven't truly sought the truth, true peace is far from you. If your a lover of pleasure, religious, can not see how relgion isn't from God, ungodly enerstainment, that is right it stains your mind, greedy for gain, then you are following Satans last day one world thought, that Jesus Christ isn't the only way. For this you shall find yourself worshipping the beast, hating Jesus, Christians and Jews. God has no obligation to you who refuse His love and mercy, for His wrath abides on you and eternal hell awaits you!

Hello, Priscilla.
My opinion is that the answer is, "Yes, you need to be confirmed" -- unless your wedding is so soon in the future that you lack the time to prepare for Confirmation.

Here is what the Code of Canon Law says:
"Canon 1065
"Section 1. If they can do so without serious inconvenience, Catholics who have not yet received the Sacrament of Confirmation are to receive it before being admitted to marriage.
"Section 2. It is strongly recommended that those to be married approach the Sacraments of Penance and the most Holy Eucharist so that they may fruitfully receive the Sacrament of Marriage."

Priscilla, I cannot think of a "serious inconvenience" to stop you from receiving Confirmation, other than lack of time to prepare [to be educated, etc.] for it, probably according to your bishop's judgment. The bishop can "depute" your pastor to administer Confirmation to you, in his absence.

So, you can validly be married without being confirmed, but it is not recommended, because the graces of Confirmation will aid you in married life. I came across the following thoughts elsewhere on the Internet. I don't know the name of the author:
"Some commentators hold that receiving confirmation is a grave obligation ... . [They] relate confirmation to the strengthening of faith needed to respond to the graces of the Sacrament of Marriage. [One writer] relates the obligation to the fulfilling of the purpose of marriage. Since this includes the acceptance of children and their education in the worship of God, parents must be confirmed in the same faith in which they will raise their children. The confirmed Catholic is charged with communicating the faith by word and example. In marriage this is primarily realized through the community of the whole of life wherein the spouses assist each other by mutual sanctification and growth in faith. It is also accomplished by the nurture of the life of faith of their children."

God bless you.
John

Priscilla,
Please ignore the first message you received.
It is from an anti-Catholic Taliban member, Mullah Alex Omar Ruiz.

Y'know?

At first I used to get bent out of shape with Alex and his nonsense. Now I just get tickled! I mean, how often do we have the honor of welcoming comedians to this site? But, I must confess, my conscience is troubled...is it proper to laugh at the mentally challenged and sanity-deficient? Even when that person has gone to SO much trouble to cut-and-paste his presence?

Someone visit poor Alex and get him to start taking his Haldol again...

Pax Dominus sit semper vobiscum,

Melissa

Boy; that's bad news when Laurent LUG calls your post rubbish! Hi, Laurent! Good to have you on our team. Soon we will make of you a True Believer. Because you too are loveable, when you don't abuse our hospitality. I'm praying for you, LL!

All,

You know, the plan was for people to *not* respond to Alex so that in deleting his posts a big hole wasn't left in the thread's readability. It almost seems that now he's attained the status of sort of a folk hero here! Stranger things have happened I guess.

Anyway, I'll let this stand, and again if people don't want Alex's posts here, please don't respond to them.

In Christ,

Yes, Moderator.
Normally I ignore Alex completely, because I know that you are going to delete his crud. But this time he jumped in before anyone else and pounced on Priscilla, a new visitor to our forum. She probably got his message by e-mail and may have been quite shook up by it. I thought it would be good to reassure her and let her know that she should ignore Ramblin' Ruiz.
