New via Alta Vista:

Newcastle s.est imposed Saturday vis-a-vis on Derby County 1 to 0 thanks to a goal d.Alan Shearer on penalty. With this victory, you occupy from now on the fourth place with the classification at only three points of Liverpool. The life is beautiful for the moment in England... True C.est, that occurs rather well (laughter) Après, one did not n.avait the choice. Was needed s.imposer being given qu.on had lost in Fulham one week front. One knew to react while being strapping men during 90 minutes and here, one finds oneself in a beautiful fourth place with the classification. Which was l.ambiance in the cloakrooms after the meeting? Like d.habitude after a victory, one was all very content. Even if one could have marked a second goal which would have put to us with l.abri, one knew to hold the shock and to preserve this small goal d.avance. L.équipe was really solid and it is what it is necessary to retain. After fourteen days, Newcastle is in the race for a place in the three first, synonymous with qualification for the League of the Champions. Now what you do you know the English championship better, think that you have the potential to maintain this rate/rhythm jusqu.à the end of the season? Ah yes! But I am persuaded qu.on can better do. If one could connect three consecutive victories, that would be l.idéal. True C.est that for the moment one s.en leaves well but if one does not want to meet nasty surprises, should be aligned the good results. One will not be able to always count on the false ones of Manchester, Arsenal or Leeds. And titrates it? The championship is still very long but why not. Let us return to the match of Saturday. How s.est it unrolled? Shearer marked at the end of 30 minutes on penalty. In fact, I left the centre line, j.ai bored defense and I was made mow. Shearer n.a not trembled and l.a transformed. Opposite, as Derby is badly classified, they played to bring back a point. They were very strapping men defensively, dangerous attacks some with Ravanelli and they failed equalized on penalty. Fortunately for us, Given l.a diverted. In second half-time, there is l.occasion d.aggraver the score but we n.avons ourselves not known to find l.ouverture. And for you, how that s.est last? J.ai have a little badly above the thigh. It n.y did not have problems to run but j.avais difficulties to strike in the balloon. At the half-time, j.ai prevented the coach that I suffered. It m.a known as to continue but that if the pain were too strong, it was necessary that I left. Finally, j.ai replaced with the 89e minute. You have a match tomorrow out of Cut of the League against Ipswich. Will you be present? For the moment, I do not know. J.ai the very heavy left leg since yesterday and I was made look after this morning. It is now necessary to wait to see how my leg will react after this care. I give you appointment Thursday. Hello.

You get the gist.

Optimism's always to be welcomed, but really...We've got a scrap on for a UEFA place, never mind the bliddy title, bonny lad. BTW, spot the nice little implied criticism of BR there re: 89th minute substitution.

LoL Lolo.

j'ai bored defense and I was made mow

So if you don't track back, they make you help out the groundstaff. Nice.

It helps them become big strapping men. ;-)

To be fair, "The championship" is the Premier League

He is saying that he knows the PL better now (debatable) and also that we are capable of getting in the top three of the PL (again debatable)

The ironic thing is that he is vital to us even when playing badly. If the other team let him out of their sight for a second he will run away with the ball (a lot of the time) So even if he plays badly he's taken a defender out of the game. Playing a centre midfielder at left wing as we did last season doesn't have the same effect, meaning it's harder to attack.

Nick and I talked about this last night - I'm of the opinion that although he may be lazy he more than justifies his place. Haven't counted, but I reckon he's scored or set up about half of our goals this season.

-- Anonymous, November 26, 2001

He has, it's a valid point.

We all just get a bit pi$$ed off when he is clearly showing complete and utter apathy for any sort of football that might be considered hard work.

Generally wingers are lazy b@stards compared to the rest of the team, obviously there are some exceptions, but if you go through most teams, their wingers contribute the least in terms of hard work generally.

Giggs, Wilcox and Ripley are all lazy players when it comes to defending, but all played a big part in title winning teams.

Everyone is frustrated because we know he can do so much better. Wouldn't be so bad if he was really crap and could only turn it on every so often, but we know he's better than that.

Who are you talking about Paul? Robert or Solano? Same could be said word for word for both of them.

-- Anonymous, November 26, 2001

I was talking about Robert, but you're right it can be used for both - and wingers in general.

Hey ADK, I thought most of your opinions were reasonable, until the one above. Unless of course you did not change your opinion after discussions with "Nick".

You would get better football advice from Claire!

Shat yowa maaaafffff, Gas. Or I might come over to Perth.

Gus, you'll be pleased to know that Nick and I disagree on most things (or at least, one of us will play devil's advocate most times). His lass knows more about cricket than him too. And Rugby. In fact, he knaas nowt. Canny lad though. A bit simple, but canny....

And just to clarify, I wasn't talking about Nick when I said he justified his place in our team and had scored or set up half of our goals!!

-- Anonymous, November 28, 2001

Thanks ADK, I figured the provider of half the goals was not Nick. Although it must be pretty difficult to provide half a goal a game if the recent match reports I have been getting are correct!

-- Anonymous, November 28, 2001

You're not wrong Gus, we're not exactly a free-scoring side. We lost our wooden spoon play-off on Monday on a penalty shoot-out after a 1-1 draw. We ALL missed our pens, although in our defence they are ice hockey goals (and ice hockey style penalties) before they eventually slipped one between Rog's legs to win it. Roll on next season - we're taking heart from the fact that we managed a win and 4 draws from our 11 games - if we can just convert a couple of those draws into wins........ might mean some hard managerial decisions for me. Dropping myself might be a start!

-- Anonymous, November 28, 2001

Rest easy I'll be back soon Andy !! Though you may want to drop that pervert Rog from what you just wrote ...

;O))

He told me he was so good when he was here I did not want to give him any coaching!

I would have told him to stop the wobbly legs bit as the player was kicking the ball, not after it hits the back of the net!
