The purpose of poes stories were to inform his reader about his life without them knowing that his stories were about him. For example there is too much symbolism throughout the works of Poe. Take the death of women in many of his stories such as Ellanore. In Poes life many women that were important to him died. His mother passed away in 1811 two years after Poe was born in 1809. It was then in 1811 after the death of his mother that he was adopted by a family and a man by the name of John Allan. This is were the Allan in Poes name from. Like many improtant people in Poes life John Allan died. In the will Mr. Allan did not put Poes name n anything. SO Poe got no money, no land, he just simply got nothing. It was this that led Poe to a life of alchol and drugs...which made up some of the things that were in his writings.
