Speed Dial of M6TTL

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

I read from a Japanese Leica magazine (I don't read Japanese well, the magazine title, as interpreted from its Chinese characters, is Leica Correspondence No. 4 of 2000) which features a M6 test report. There is a series of slides demonstrating that intermediate speeds in 1/4 step can be set and are fully effective. There is an exception, that is between 8 and 15. The test slide taken in the range between 8 and 15 indicates 1 stop under exposure compared with the one taken with 1/15 second. The article also quotes the M4 instruction booklet about the same shutter speed setting functionality in M4. C.W. Lee

Yes there are intermediate speeds available between 1s to 1/8, 1/15 to 1/30 and 1/60 to 1/1000. Only 1/50 is available between 1/30 and 1/60. They are not calibrated so half way between does not necessarily mean a half stop step in the shutter speed. Also the meter is not variable but only works in the marked settings. So you have to meter first in a marked setting and after set the intermedate speed. The meter is then not accurate until returned to a marked setting.

Are those intermediate speeds also available on other M cameras, or just the M6 TTL?

Intermediate speeds are available on all M camera's.
