Central Ohio P.R.O. Gunshow

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Current News - Homefront Preparations : One Thread

A quick update on this weekend's show - PACKED! There were three buildings of dealers, with only 3 dealer no-shows. The crowds are tremendous - in some areas you can't even see the tables there are so many people! People are buying too, many just supplies, but there are some sales going on, seems to be pistols.

Speaking of buying, there are plenty of other items other than guns - all types of books (history, military, survival, gunsmithing, etc...), survival & hunting gear, surplus gun parts and accessories. It is a wonderful show! (If you go, bring lots of money as you'll find a lot you'll want to buy. Prices seem to average pretty reasonably.) If you're a gal, admission is free. Adult male admission is $6.

I read the last sentence as "adult male submission is $6."

Ooooooo. It's been a long afternoon.

LOL, Meems, I thought that was Barefoot until I read the sig!

Meem,

Well, men did outnumber women by at least 10 to 1, if not well more! Who knows what strapping young lad you might find down there? ;-) I sure did enjoy my "window shopping", and I wasn't looking at the stuff on the tables either... :-D

I rather liked air shows in my younger days. Of course, you have to rent a child to take with you if you don't have one of your own; you don't want to appear too obvious.

I've quit dating and even looking, Deb, but thanks for the thought! (;

That's when you're bound to get lucky, Meems. Happened to me :)

OG,

LOL about the "rent-a-child" routine. Must have had a very good time by the sound of it.

Meemur,

Almost in the same situation here. Hopefully the good luck will rub off on both of us...

One can also enroll in such classes as woodworking, auto repair, that sort of thing. I used to have good luck at the zoo on Saturdays, where divorced fathers often took their offspring. Car and boat shows are goof possoibilities was well. However, I met Sweetie in a bar. . . Of course, it was the Officers Club at the Navy base, where there are still more males than females, lol!

Yeah, but I don't want any divorced guys with young children. Also, having somewhat recently buried three parents, I don't want one with ailing relatives, either.

Oh, yeah. He should be gainfully employed at a legal job, not in need of any 12-step programs, and not seeing a shrink several times a month. Notice that I didn't mention looks, specific income, or designate a vehicle he has to drive.

(: (: (: (: (:

I expect to be alone for a long time. That's not a bad thing.

The "divorced guys with young children" refers to the meatheads who have dumped their kids on me during their turn for visitation so that they could go play basketball/golf/tennis.

Happened far too often before I just quit dating parents.

:-) :-)

Sue, it wouldn't be the first time that a match made in heaven was initially orchestrated by a picnic attended by fellow TB forumites. :-) :-)

'Specially if they have a military background, huh?

-- Anonymous, November 25, 2001

No, I don't think all of the "good ones" are taken. But I believe a lot men feel as I do that there are much more interesting things to do than go on dates with people who don't have their lives together.

One disadvantage of living in a college town is there are a number of residents who are 45 going on 18. They are spending thousands of dollars on counselors to help them grow up.

On the other hand, I wouldn't trade the vocational opportunites, access to technology and information, and cheap, plentiful water to live elsewhere. Someday, I'll run into someone who feels the same way. (:

That's merely coincidental.

Someday, I'll run into someone who feels the same way.

I understand and agree with what you said about living in a college town; that was my experience (years and years ago), too.

Yes, it's true: When you are least looking for it (him/her) and often when it is the least convenient and the most improbable time, you will find the "Right One".
