the tone bothers me. too muddy perhaps...just doesnt feel right...i like the pose and shapes and everything else, just not those tones...

Pose? She wasn't posing, she was sleeping. . .

I've gone back and played with the curves to alleviate some of the muddiness. This was just a quick flatbed scan; haven't played with it in the darkroom yet.

To me this is an absolutely beautiful and sensitive portrait. I see no "muddiness" and the bokeh is beautiful. Your composition is well balanced and the very precise focus on her eyelashes "makes" the photo. I truly conveys the feeling of peace. Wonderful. the best I've seen in a long time.

Thanks very much. Looks like the curves adjustment fixed the muddiness. Andrea isn't really the "dark" type--my most repeated words while working with her were probably, "Stop smiling so much." Not that seeing her smile is a bad thing, but it would have made the photos a bit one dimensional. This is about as dark as she gets (and it required considerable harrassment):
