Great stuff, I hope you're a better spotter then me, I remember on the old BBS stating that Maric was the best player on the pitch when we played against the Croats!!!

-- Anonymous, November 22, 2001

..... you weren't alone in that assessment DaveleF.

I've always felt that the real difference between that Silvio Maric and the one who wore the b&w was a few million quid in the bank. I can only assume he was basically a lazy b@st@rd who just couldn't motivate himself when the financial incentive disappeared. Unfortunately, I feel this is happening more and more often - and for the same reason.

Swift, any taxi drivers involved this time? Anyway, can't be true, haven't seen it on Teamsqwauk yet. Mind you, that probably means it must be true.

nope.

-- Anonymous, November 22, 2001

Sounds like dire news to me..or should that be Dyer news.

Is he an attacking, defensive or creative midfielder?

-- Anonymous, November 22, 2001

hey swift where have you heard this? Sounds great

got a call from my girls brother, its now on planetfootball ...nudge...wink... he's the best player they have and for me, a great prospect. he played in the copa america winning team and literally owned the right side of the field in every game. imagine marvin hagler meets ronaldo meets bobby lee and you have him. he's famous in medellin for being a, and i quote, 'the hardest son a bitch' and to be that in medellin means you are not shy. he's famous (apparently) for dribbling past players, but when they get in his way he kicks them. has a dangerous free kick and is often used as an anchor man for colombia, he's the best tackler in South America with a never say die attitude. the colombians love him. he wins games and saves games. in short if i had to choose any midfielder in the world save for any Real Madrid players, he'd be my number 1 choice. Roy Keane - watch out!

They don't call him "the steering wheel" or anything do they?.....

-- Anonymous, November 22, 2001

I Really hope your right..

I think a new signing like this could lift our players who seem to think we're gonna get relegaed.

Clarky, I think we actually bought Maric's brother.

This Columbian bloke sounds the biz although you can foresee another club v country furore breaking out.

-- Anonymous, November 22, 2001

As long as he plays against the mackems! I like the sound of him kicking his way through defenders.

-- Anonymous, November 22, 2001

Ho, hum, here we go again.

Sorry guys, just had my believe-it-when-I-see-it pill.

-- Anonymous, November 22, 2001

Swift, it sounds like he's just another Gary Speed to me

-- Anonymous, November 22, 2001

Softie - you don't think that phrase could have been the Alta Vista translation for "needs a sense of direction" by any chance do you?

;o{)

-- Anonymous, November 22, 2001

Yea, if he's so gret then why would they sell him?

-- Anonymous, November 22, 2001

Got it wrong Swifty. This guy was recommended by that great Toon fan, Norman Wisdom and it's Mr. Gri(m)s(d)ale

-- Anonymous, November 22, 2001

They may need money, he may want to work in the PL, any number of reasons. Why would PSG sell us Laurent Robert?

-- Anonymous, November 22, 2001

"marvin hagler meets ronaldo meets bobby lee and you have him"

Sounds a bit more special than Laurent though.

P.s Swift, was it you that posted the article on PlanetFootball.com?

-- Anonymous, November 22, 2001

no it wasn't

-- Anonymous, November 22, 2001

Sounds like he'd spend more time suspended than playing. Still, good spot, Swift.

-- Anonymous, November 22, 2001

Sounds like a canny player, South American though, we might face competition from Oldham for him.

-- Anonymous, November 22, 2001

No, Paul: he's apparently a Good South American player.

-- Anonymous, November 22, 2001

icDeadPeople have picked this story up now.

-- Anonymous, November 23, 2001

Aye, Colombians are certainly not to be sniffed at....(only been back 5 mins and coming out with crap like that, shocking....)
