Seeing as I finish at 6,30 am until Monday, ah thowt I would get ma six penny`sworth in noo and kick off the thread. Forst thing today ah shall get ma winter warmers in, thanks to Tony our Winter Fuel Allowance arrived yesterday so I will put it to good use, bottle of Grouse, Bell`s , Whyte and Mackay`s for starters, some cheap blend for visitors I am not keen on and a superior malt for Buff when he is in a reflective mood. Also order a load of Polish coal, fraid as the Proclaimers stated on their song?-: "Shilbottle no More", no jest but you mention Shilbottle up here and their faces positively glow , they talk in revered tones about the quality, the heat that it brings ,me being a Geordie I nod knowingly , not letting on that aal my time in the North East and having spent 2 years `doon the pit` I was not aware that `Shilbottle Coal` could have this orgasmic effect on users.

Friday night Thai Buffett from social club at work, £9 for all you can eat, usually a good night. Just got tickets for the musical`Rent` following week, has anyone seen it? that kid from Corrie who left for Oz or Canada is in it, Adam Ricketts? , details on net are sketchy.

Saturday, watch my team , going thro a bad spell, underperforming. Saturday night, toast the taes , warm the cockles,Band of Brothers

Sunday assist son fix new facia linings , weather permitting. Back to place of employment on Monday where we are swamped by a plethora of IT people changing out all the PC`s, that`s it

That sounds a delightfully cultured, warm and drunken time, Buff :-) You know how to make a Thurs / Friday last drag...

I never knew different coal could have such differing characteristics. I remember my dad saying that if you were poor it was cheaper to get German coal, but that it wouldn't burn properly. Are there any readers' favourites on the carboniferous fuel source side of life on here?

Ipswich tonight (playing them next week and again in a fortnight so we'd be stupid to miss it - dare say the Lads will be in Julie's). Band of Brothers Friday night. Derby on Saturday (dreading another Leicester performance but would settle for the same result). My Mam is up to visit little Bob on Sunday.

my family were from Blaydon and were miners from times long forgotten up to my granda, he became a cokeman rather than a miner, he became a union official and ended up as part of the 'beer and sandwiches' NUM delegation that negiotating team with Ted Heath during the 71/72 strike. Now if Warren needs to know how to run a good strike then I can supply him with a phone number

B*stard hospital in a minute; Ipswich tonight although the UEFA games so far have been as entertaining as having your toenails extracted; sister and nephew tomorrow; Derby on Saturday - a game we should win and are therefore more than capable of losing; Sunday dunno.

"B*stard hospital" - is that BUPA or NHS? Good luck :-)

It is a long weekend over here. Out on the beers tonight - recovering Friday and half of Saturday. Spending the rest of Saturday psyching myself up for Saturday night and then beers again.

Annual pilgrimage to Richmond the morrer, for the weekend. Bit of walking in N.Yorks, pre and post prandial pop, Fri and Sat, with Richmond Grand Opera Co. performance of musical version of Scrooge Saturday night.

And, blasphemy of blasphemies, giving the footy a miss - I mean it is only Derby, so nee probs there. In fact we'll be so superior, you lot'll be bored our of your skulls. There, that's put the mockers on it.

An added bonus is that my son's going in my stead, and he's never seen us win since we stopped going halfies on the ticket.

All boding very well for this to be the one to miss, I'd say. :-((

Counting down to 5pm tonight (Thurs) cos then i'm into my weekend. normal weekend of watching and playing football and maybe have a few beers. Maybe pick up the last two pressies I need to get for xmas and then I won't have to go in the shops anymore and suffer the idiots who seem to get a two month long pass allowing them out of the assylum for November and December.

The Derby fans seem to think they will tonk us, too.

Watching American Beauty on cable right now. Kevin Spacey is brilliant! Dinner and pumpkin pie after the movie. Survivor and Monarch of the Glen tonight. Tomorrow, bit of shopping and errands. Webcast Saturday morning, probably heading to a friend's place for drinks later Saturday. No real plans beyond that.
