Is it true the Leica R8 body is now being produced in Portugal? Is the body stamped 'Made in Portugal' and with what serial number did this begin?

My R8 (S/N 2,75x,xxx)says "Portugal"; however I have seen references that previous R8's were mostly assembled in Portugal then shipped to Solms for attachment of the top plate. I don't know if that is truth or fiction. What I do know is that the R8's labelled Germany had their share of glitches and breakdowns, so unless you're hedging the very unlikely possibility of a future collectible, I would be inclined to go for the Portugal R8 simply because a new unit will come with a substantial warranty.
