need help on allusions made in Premature Burial

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Work of Edgar Allan Poe : One Thread

I am in the process of writing a paper on a lesson Poe is teaching through "The Premature Burial." I get the idea that the last sentence of the story is instrumental to my thesis, but I don't fully understand it because it refers to two things that I have never heard before in this phrase:

"...but, like the Demons in whose company Afrasiab made his voyage down the oxus, they must sleep..."

After trying to find out about this subject, I have come up with nothing -- save that it is from Persian mythology. If anyone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it! =) Thank you.
