Leica M4 wax seal stamping

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

I am the proud owner of a nearly mint Leica M4 that is working flawlessly. I bought this camera several months ago after owning 4 other M6 classics. I have absolutely nothing against the M6, its that this body just feels better to me. My question is this: The wax seal on the lens mount is stamped "92". Does this number indicate a particular repair facility, person or date of service? BTW, I bought this camera to use & not to let it sit on a shelf.

The "92" stamp is indicative of Don Goldberg (DAG) having overhauled it. That's a really good thing. Don's the Man.

......and if there is a "K" stamped, that is Sherry Krauter, whom I will be buying lunch this Saturday.
