how do you carry a motor around? (not on camera)

What's the best way to carry a motor m around, if you're not planning to permenantly attach it to your camera? (Also, wondering what's the best way to store the motor, without using the box it came in.)

thanks ken

Ken:

Well, one idea would be to use the Tamrac brand of camera bag, which has a compartment under the Velcro flap that supports the camera in their lens-bridge type bags. The motor would fit nicely in the bottom compartment. It would also go in one of the front pockets of the Domke bag.

That's a tough one alright. I don't know offhand.

You should be able to pick up a rectangular vinyl zippered pouch made for various things (cameras, electric shavers, calculators etc.)that fits the winder.

Jay's got the answer. I keep camera bodies (without the lens) and accessories in those palmtop carrying neoprene pouches when travelling. The no-brand ones are sold very cheaply in computer stores. Something like this should be ideal for your Motor-M.

I alway use the M6 with the motor either attached or detached because when I carry them separately and mount the motor as I need it I find there is considerable fogging to the film. Damn Leica QC...I ought to send it back :^)

Use a Domke lens wrap! The "Small" size. They're cheap, take up no space, have very little bulk, protects the motor when not on the camera, and protects the bottom plate when the motor is on the camera... Folded rectangular, even with the bottom plate inside, it can be used as an additional padded divider in your bag.

Wouldn't it just be simpler to put it in the bag with the film and nappy cream?

Sure, if you don't mind getting nappy cream all over your motor :) What the heck is nappy cream?
