Back in business - thank you Henry!

This is a follow-up to my 'dumbass' posting from last week. For those of you who didn't see it, I managed to leave my very-recently acquired M4-2 and 50mm Summicron on a plane last Tuesday. Although the folks at United Airlines were helpful, friendly and apologetic, so far they have come up with diddly-squat. That being said, on my flight home Saturday morning, I had a chat with the purser (sp?). I had deduced that only 4 passengers passed my seat after me, so was there any way to offer a reward to the flight crew or cleaning crew? She responded that the flight crew is required to hand in anything found, and that they supervise the cleaning crews these days. She also told me that it can take 2 weeks for an item to work its way through the system to Lost & Found. Both Orange County and Denver airports have a report, so I guess I need to be a little patient. Strangely, the Orange County Sheriff's Dept did not allow me to file a report. It seems there is no register of lost/stolen serial numbers against which camera stores & pawnbrokers have to check when buying used equipment.

In the meantime, my 35mm Summicron ASPH arrived in the mail late last week. Henry Chu, a true gentleman, has generously lent me an M2 until my M4-2 turns up or my insurance claim has been processed. Thank you so much Henry. I just learned of a Leica Day in Denver in 2 weeks time, so a new M6 TTL may be in my future, should my M4-2 fail to turn up.

It snowed here last night in the Colorado Front Range, so I'm off to capture the sunrise on the Flatirons in Boulder before heading in to work. Happy shooting everyone!

Oh please provide us some photos from the shoot. I would love to see how the 35mm Summicron ASPH delivers in its pictures :)

Hopefully you can recover your camera soon. I think that patience is the key as I have seen before. By the way, don't forget to check with Leica Camera USA too. They keep a registered file of missing stuff too and they have found missing Leicas all over the world. It's a great resource as well.

Happy shooting too...

Alfie
