Is anyone that surprised we lost? Most of our key players only just returned from Iran, Dabs just returned from Greece and we have 2 central midfielders WAY past their sell by's. Its elementary.

'spose your right. The real mystery is how we ever manage to play well and win

I'm not surprised we lost - it was Lahndaan after all, but don't blame Shamus. He was our best player. If you wanna blame any long distance travel, blame the bu99ers who flew back from Spain. They should all have come back early - Bellamy was the next best player.

Yes and Solano had been in South America.

Lets forget it now, move on to the next game. It winds me up too much to think about it.

BTW what was the transfer gossip from Sunday, like BBS my computer was full of gliches and I couldn't access much. I DID see the Sunday Mirror which said we were back in for Dunn. If only there were some truth in that or a possibility that that tosser Souness would sell him to us. Now he would be a decent replacment for Rob Lee.

We need a Vierra type in midfiled, What about Distin he can play in midfiled can't he?

The S/Sun reckoned Emerton is still our No.1 target, and that word he will only consider a move to Leeds is a load of danglies. They reckon we've been using Brett's father as a go-between.

The feeling is that Feyenoord won't sell him while they're in the UEFA Cup, and possibly not until the end of the season. However, the S/S reckon he will move to the PL sooner or later, and that the fee will be nothing like the £15mm that has been quoted.

Kennyboy, actually Distin has played in midfield for PSG but doesn't want it to become a habit. Personally, since he likes gallumphing forward so much, I'd try Dabs - which would open a window to check out Distin or to properly blood one or other of the Caldwells.

Noooooooooooooooo! Not Dabs in m/f. Please. Distin has done it before, tho I haven't been over impressed when I've seen him going forward for the Resorves.

Make shift solutions like that are not the answer. A decent, proven midfielder is.

Find £12 million that we haven't begged, stolen, borrowed or sold Kieron Dyer for, Screach, and I'd agree. Didn't Dabs once have an OK run at midfield?

-- Anonymous, November 19, 2001

Sorry Swist mate, don't agree. The players who have been active were, from what I've heard, better than those who have spent the last 2 weeks on their arses. I'd have thyem all in for an extra couple of hours training / bollocking a day after a gutless display like that.

Well, there's £500K for Rob Lee, £1M for Quinn (when fit) and didn't somebody say the Spanish window opens soon (ahem - dream on Screach). We've just let Beharall go to Owdham so maybe we can turn that into a January sale for (say) £1M? See, there's bits and bobs (Robs??) to be gotten. I reckon we could get a decent player for £10M. Trouble is finding a team prepared to let one go. Would Gazza fancy a reToon?? That was a joke :-(

maybe we should send them to Iran every week instead of Spain?
