If Bellamy won't learn his lesson (as it seems) couldn't Bobby arrange to have his jaw wired shut before the game? Or a muzzle perhaps. It's not like his looks would suffer...

Well it had to happen sometime. Will it def be Charlton away then? BR can play Luax2 or Shola, not so bad.

I am being positive here btw.

Bellamy being out should give Shola a chance. In the past Shola and Shearer haven't looked that brilliant but it's a good chance to get Shola into the first team. Anyway, isn't Dyer potentially back by then?

LKD could well be back by then. If so, he could either slot in place of Super-Gob or move Robert up front (as we did on Saturday) and let LKD get used to the wide left berth. I'm sure he could see sense in that ;-)

It's a poor way to get a game suspension...at least he could have chinned the ref or something

Are we 100% certain he got booked: I've read three different booking permutations for Saturday.

-- Anonymous, November 19, 2001

.cock says bookings were: "Elliott 9, Dabizas 27, Robert 55, O'Brien 57, Lee 70, Shearer 73"; ITV teletext said there were 4 bookings (didn't mention O'Brien or Shearer); Sporting Life says 'Booked: Elliott, Dabizas, Robert, O'Brien, Lee, Shearer'

So it appears Craig wasn't cautioned

I could have sworn CB was booked. I remember turning to the fella behind me saying that both Robert and Bellamy would be suspended (I mistakenly thought Robert already had 4 to his name). Hopefully, I was wrong on both counts.

Metro thought he was booked.....but then they have trouble distinguishing between afternoons and evenings.

the fouls were 18 to 22 and we had 6 booked they had none. ours were Elliott, Dabizas, Robert, O'Brien, Lee, Shearer

How come they had no one booked?

I also thought that Bellamy had been booked for the fifth time, and said so at the time to Gav and Pete Miller. Mind you, my vision might have been impared by tears of despair by then. He'll probably get his fifth at Charlton, so he'll end up missing the Blackburn game. By which time Dyer will be back, always assuming he doesn't start and then get injured at Charlton.

<> So there we have it. Dissent is okay if: (a) You are right and the official is consequently wrong; (b) Your manager agrees with you; (c) You are Alan Shearer; but in particular; (d) Which is a combination of a, b and c. Unfortunately you still get a yellow card for any of the above. And as we all know, those points soon add up, don't they playmates. Or maybe I'm just missing something here.

Whoops..........I swear that this next bit was in my original posting, honest guv. "To make matters worse, the bulk of these eight bookings have been issued for dissent - something Robson understandably hates……………………… Robert was just one of six United players cautioned by rookie referee Eddie Wolstenholme at Craven Cottage, leaving the club to pick up a £25,000 fine. Alan Shearer was also booked for dissent but the skipper will escape any disciplinary action from his manager. Robson added: "I can understand where Alan was coming from because what he was saying to the referee was right. "There were two fouls against us right in front of the referee which he let go and then we committed one and he immediately awarded Fulham a free-kick."

That was my reaction when I saw that quote, too. And you wonder what the other players must think when teacher's pet is the only one not getting a rollicking over it.

-- Anonymous, November 19, 2001

Although I have not seen the incident, I doubt Al continually harassed the ref for ages after the event, something that young Craig seems to do - like a dog with a bone sometimes, that Taff :-)

-- Anonymous, November 19, 2001

True enough, but isn't whinging enough to get booked a bad thing no matter who does it? Al does get his share of booking for dissent each year, so he's no saint in that department.

-- Anonymous, November 19, 2001

Maybe he gets special dispensation being the captain. It is up to him to press the poit with the refs over certain points.

Why can't they keep their gobs shut?

It really isn't that hard, they just have to stay focussed for the 90 minutes, it really shouldn't be that hard.
