Mid roll rewind in Elan 7e?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Camera Equipment : One Thread

I was reading and article on the elan 7e it stated the elan 7 as having mid roll rewind. Does this mean you can carry two kinds of film with you and switch between the two when you want? Will the camera automatically advance to the first unused frame on the film or not when you load a half finished role of film in? Thanks for the help.

Most cameras have mid-roll rewind. That is, you can hit a button and have the film rewind at any time. What is important is that the Canon can be set to leave the film leader out rather than rewinding completely into the cartridge. However, when reloading the same film, it won't automatically advance to the first unused frame. You have to remember what frame you were at. Then, you put cap the lens, set the camera manually to a fast shutter speed, and click away until you get back to the appropriate frame.
