Lolo speaks

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Not a lot today, mainly saying that it'll be the same side as usual probably and that they are setting off for London tomorrow. He says that there are lots of French people at Fulham and that he has no regrets at all about joining us instead of them. We are going for at least a point but since we both play attacking football, there should be lots of goals.

Alta Vista for comedy value: Bobby Robson started to set up l.équipe which will meet Fulham Saturday. Decided Qu.a it? It n.y does not have large changes. One will find l.équipe which was aligned since the beginning of the season. For l.entraînement, one especially worked in front of the goals. One made not badly strike and one s.est made a small attack-defense. Did you have a video meeting? Not, c.est very rare. On the other hand, like one leaves tomorrow in Fulham, one perhaps y will have right once qu.on will be on the spot. Did Robson speak to you about Fulham? Not, at all. What do you know l.équipe of Jean Tigana? Qu.il has much French there! I will find Goma, Malbranque, Saha, Legwinski and normally, Marlet should have been on the ground. But it is wounded and it still has some as a step badly time. In any case, I know qu.ils need d.une victory. They knew a beginning of rather delicate championship and they must absolutely garner the points in residence. One thus over there will take at least a point. As the two teams have a play turned towards l.attaque, it risks d.y to have goals. And you n.avais have contacts with them this summer? If, they s.étaient well informed (laughter). But frankly, I do not regret my choice. Jusqu.au match, how will you organize yourselves? There is drive tomorrow morning and one eats all together afterwards. One takes then l.avion for London, one rests with l.hôtel and one passes to table for the dinner. And Saturday, place with the match. Hello.

Translate again: Text Enter up to 150 words for translation Bobby Robson a commencé à mettre en place l’équipe qui rencontrera samedi Fulham. Salut.

Several years ago, the UK company I was managing was taken over by a big French company. I tried really hard to learn French, but found it hopeless. To my delight, I discovered some translation software and started gleefully sending memo's to Paris "en Francais" - feeling very superior.

After several weeks, I was at a meeting in Paris, and when it concluded I casually several of the assembled Frogs whether my recent attempts to communicate in French were indeed legible.

After several 'knowing' looks around the table and much thinly disguised mirth, one of them said graciously " well actually Alain, we really appreciate the effort, but it would actually be much easier for us to translate your English than your French!!". How embarrassing.

Having perused what comes out of Alta Vista I now understand exactly what they meant!
