A36 to 39 Adapter; WTB 14033 Lens Hood Cap

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

Recently I purchased a 90mm Elmar lens LTM that uses A36 filters. I had Steve Grimes (www.skgrimes.com you got to check out his site) make a custom adapter ring. It SCREWS into the front of the Elmar, steps it up to 39mm filters. Best of all, Steve made it fit the 12575 clip on lens hood. The hood clips on perfectly, reverses as well. The ring is thin, very nicely finished in black. It’s the ring Leica should have made! Cost was $50 plus shipping, well worth it.

Does any one have a spare 14033 lens hood cap that they might want to sell? Thanks!

Leica still stocks the 14033 caps. Leica made just such an adapter as well but it is clamp fitting. It will accept the clip on hoods and filters such as the 12575 you mentioned. The part number is SOOGZ/13154. They show up up on eBay and sell for less than the custom adapter mentioned above. It may not allow the 12575 to fitted in reverse. I do not know as I do not have one to hand.

Thanks John. I have one of the Leitz clamp-on adapter but it does not allow for a clip-on shade 12585. It's also twice as high as the one Steve made.

My Leitz adapter says "E. Leitz New York". Maybe it's different from the one you listed.
